I just asked the same question and was pretty much told that you would not get a discount. And like the ppprolli said the best you can hope for is an extra strap.

Depends where you are in the world, which city in the country and which AD in the city.ADs are tight on discounts.I understand that.Every PAM is "Limited" by numbers. So,its not really like they have large amounts of PAMs,they struggle to move. However,I got a discount on each and every PAM I bought. The exact number remains confidential.

When I was looking at a Pam, they wouldn't give me a discount. But they were willing to give me two additional straps for free.

Now you know, when it comes to PAM discounts ... "Blessed are those that expect nothing".As always discounts are there to be found, just have to look for it,but obviously, being more of a limited brand, its more difficult to find.

I have purchased 15 PAMs and 4 Rolexes in 6 mos and still do not get any discounts. They may discount some that have been sitting for a while but would not expect any discount for any hot models.

On higher ticket items (i.e. $8k and above) my AD offered to waive the sales tax PLUS an additional 2% if paid with cash... For my "entry level" PAM, I paid retail + taxes and all I got was an extra black calf. :|

A buddy of mine sells Pam's where he works and they only give discounts once all of the following are met:

They are 100% convinced you are actually going to buy.
They know they have to give you the discount to make the sell.
Your discount request is reasonable (No Tax, or <10%)

Always remember, if you request free stuff you can usually get more discount then wanting cash off as any free stuff has a markup as well. IE they give you $500 winder but it only cost them $250.

Also if you are talking to someone who does not have to get managers approval IE: The manager you could always throw them a curve ball. For example: Buy a Pam at retail and get an Omega SMP for 50% off. You asked for a ridiculous discount on a very popular model that they would discount 30% anyways Obviously for a 50% break on a $2000 watch you had better not be buying a $4000 pam. But say on a $8000 pam, in the end they are only giving you a 10% on the total purchase.

I agree 100% with those first three points. You have to express a "seriousness of business".More art and luck, than science. They work with people every day,so they have a good idea, what goes for what, client wise.Expressing good knowledge on the subject, enthusiasm for the brand, all sows the little seed of a possible discount. Also,if they feel that you are a collector/multiple buyer, the likelyhood of a good discount rises exponentially

AD discounts

Most AD's will not give penny off. Some will give a free strap (always ask for a croc they are more expensive) and some will give 5 - 7%. It is tough to get this and it normally only happens after you have had some dealings with them. In my opinion it is a bonus if you get anything. It is not worth missing the watch you want for the measly discounts given.

everyone discounts....even on Pams..
you just have to find the right ADs. just calling them on the phone won't do it.
go there and let them know you are buying

Rule of thumb is no discounts. I did get hooked up with some straps, but they really won't budge on discounts.

Finding the right AD is the difficult part when there are not many in the first place.

In Texas, there's 1 AD in Dallas, 1 in Laredo, 1 in El Paso, 2 in San Antonio and 2 in Houston. Now remember that Texas is pretty big. The AD in Dallas doesn't discount and the next closest one is in Houston which is about 240 miles away. That's almost 4 hours of driving with no guarantee of a discount from either of the Houston ADs.

I was looking at Panerai's website for a list of ADs ( http://www.panerai.com/s_page.xpd?id...=6&id_lingua=2 ), and decided to see where the Canadian ADs are. They have three for the whole country! Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Try getting a discount out of those ADs.

Most AD's will throw in 1 or 2 straps but no "discount" on the watch. Choose wisely on those 2 straps and you are looking at about $500 USD if you post the straps and sell them on the boards. Translate that to the price of your watch and you have your "discount".

The way the markets are these days and the hit retail are taking i'd expect 10% off the MRSP of any watch, i really do think that watch companies like Rolex, Panerai and the likes have hit their peak for pricing, they've slowly cut down their customer base with the price rises and within the next 12 months it'll get a little bit tighter.

I'm not even contemplating buying from an AD anymore, i think there will be enough watches coming up in the next year for bargain prices to forget about paying MRSP.

Most AD's willing to discount PAM and Rolex, if they don't- find one that will.
