Buy a watch for the value it brings you and the satisfaction you'll get from wearing it not for what you think you can sell it for in the future. Personally at 16 years old I wouldn't wear a Rolex. There's too many things that you'll experience and too many places that you could go where you could either lose it you can or be stolen or something could happen to it that you would regret. Save your money buy one for yourself once you have achieved a milestone in life such as graduating college not high school that's almost mandatory nowadays you'll thank yourself in the end

Maybe for your college graduation. At 16 i would have bought a smart watch. You don't want the hassle of selling and customer support an used watch.

Spend 6 months or a year on here and learn about the brand, models, and options. Then pick out what you like and begin to save. At 16 you don't need a rolex. You just don't. Don't rush into a multi thousand dollar watch purchase. I'm 32 and just got my first, and can say at 16 I had no business wearing one, and I would have trashed it or lost it or got robbed/had it stolen. There's plenty of great watches to enjoy along the way to your first rolex. Learn and understand what a mechanical watch is, find out how automatic movements work. Understand the beauty and engineering vs just having a poor example of a worn out status symbol on your wrist that will surely get trashed along the way

There are plenty of Rolexes for $3000. Keep looking. The one you showed looks like a nightmare to me; the dial isn't original. If you are looking at Rolexes really try to find one that is all original.

At age 30 I couldn't give a rats ass about Rolex or any other lux watch for that matter. I am now 33 and have owned 5 Rolexes, 6 Tudors, 6 Omegas, 5 Breitlings, 2 IWC's and more TAGs than I care to admit, I bought all these watches for me, I couldnt care less what who thought of me. U should buy what makes u happy and for the right reasons, not to impress anybody, my personal thought is buy a Tudor to start with, Rolex built quality, Rolex look on vintage piece, a fraction of the cost and very few ppl ur age knows about Tudor which translates to less change that it would get stolen.

Be careful about beckertime on eBay. I've never bought from them but from the research I did, they have a lot of vintage rolexes with aftermarket bracelets or "professionally redone" dials. You won't be satisfied if you settle for this. Take a look in the trusted sellers section here.

I agree with William. You're too young for a Rolex.
I think that your age puts more risk on your watch, it could get damaged, stolen or lost easily. When I was your age I'd expect something like that to happen to me. On another note, people can mistaken your watch for a replica just because they assume a person your age can not afford one. I recommend saving up and waiting for a milestone.

It will be easier for you if 16 was not mentioned. Just my 2 cents
However, my advice is that you should learn more about the brand and possible purchases. You can make money, but you don't know how to spend it worthwhile then what is the point ? Don't get me wrong i'm saying you are too young for a Rolex. You just need more time to find yourself and your dream watch Take your time, |

I would hold out, as some have said read this forum for a few months and gain some knowledge. My first watch was a Breitling a few months later I came across this forum and then learnt about Tudor and more about Rolex, I have since purchased a watch from both brands and wished I had this knowledge before I purchased the Breitling.
When I was 16, I brought things on impulse and in some cases regretted them later on.

I'll not say what to do with your money, just read all TRF members and think about it. Are sincere advices.
My fist watch was a swatch, then I bought several tissots, citizens, seikos... till bought my first Rolex with 23. With 16 I bought a motorbike and afterwards I bought my first car with 19, a 17 years old VW Passat. Just do what makes you happy. Learn doing mistakes is a part of life but try to fail with cheaper mistakes. ;) |

How it works is, you buy what you like!! If you're short of that, buy what you can afford, and like!! Now I didn't close your first thread, but I am closing this one... Reason being, if you have to ask what/where, and how much, you need to take a seat and go back to rethink what your desires and fiscal ability can achieve....... TRF is all about discussion, but the discussion needs substance, and your topic has no further quality ground to cover.
