Murdered the bezel on my AP what should i do?

Hello all,

Looking for some friendly advice. I was walking past a friend and we accidentally knocked watches. His Breitling hit my AP 15400 and my bezel was scratched/ dinged pretty badly. What should I do? Will AP polish this or will I need to just live with it?

Need pics to see how bad it is. AP will fix it like new but it could need a polish, or a laser fill and polish or a whole new bezel

I will take pic when i get home. It isnt just a scratch but actually has a bit of depth to it.

If it's not too deep, probably APSC can refill and re-polish the bezel. Worse come to worse, you may need to get a new bezel. If the knock is very hard, it is also better to check the movement. Is it still under warranty?

It felt light when we clashed. We were merely walking by each other.

I don't think he'd be able to bang his watch hard enough into someone else's wrist and damage his movement.

Looks like that can be fixed but will take metal and will cost atleast a few hundred to get sorted. I would live with it for now and get it sorted out a year or to down the line. Im just thinking that if you get it fixed now could get new marks a month or to down the road and you can't polish the watch to often.

There was a guy about 8 months ago who fell off his bike and messed up his diver bezel I believe. APSC in Clearwater fixed it good as new in a few weeks and it was way worse than yours.

Bummer but you'll get more, that's where wrist awareness comes in handy, when I am in places where someone or something might bump or scratch my watch I always put it in a way that the case will not be hit but just the buckle and bracelet, try to get used to doing that or you will clearly have other incidents like this, it's been years I didn't bump or scratch a bezel or case, my PP 5712 had 3 micro hairlines on the beze and most probably from my wife's wedding ring, l never got her to take it off at night and can't sleep without my watch on, they were almost not visible, and none on the case, and that was 1,5 years of 24/24 wear, takes practice but best way to avoid this kind of thing, I would not get that fixed before reaching a certain level of wrist awareness as since you just got it and this happened I am betting there will be quite a few, better to deal with all of them once you manage for this kind of thing not to happen

I wouldn't call the OP's watch murdered by any means but I am very curious to see yours. Could you post some pics. I love to see pics of well worn AP's because I think they tend to get babied a lot.

Do they have to send it out or can they do it here? I live in NYC.

I looked at it again after chilling out a bit and its not that bad. I think i will live with it and get it fixed down the road at the 2 year service mark

Yup! I agree. I would wait. I got a scuff on my bezel and it was very "liberating". I don't worry about where a wear it anymore - airplanes, travel, weekends, vacation...

Just wear it until you're ready to send it in for the B1 test to activate the 3rd year of warranty and get it fixed then. AP will let you know if it can be polished out or needs to be laser filled. Should only be a couple hundred $$$ and will look like new.

I'm doing the same for a dent on the case of one of my APs. Caught it on the edge of a marble bar when I was reaching down to pick up my wife's purse off the purse hook.

AP Service center can fix that no problem. They will either polish or do a laser-fill. Neither of the two are very expensive.

I was gonna comment to the OP that it hardly looks "murdered" but I totally get it. I'm kind of the same way with my watches. Good news, it looks to be a quick fix.

The first blemish on your new watch, luxury car, or super model girlfriend are always tough to deal with. Glad you took the high road and will stay the course as opposed to what I usually do: just get another one. Kidding (sort of). Doesn't look that bad and gives the watch some character that can be removed at the next service interval (or sooner if it's really keeping you up at night).
