Ref: 168000 Closed 6...but 9, 16, 19, 26, and 29 are open?

All of the 6's and 9's on the date wheel in a 168000 I'm currently considering are open, except for the 6th. Is that normal? Shouldn't they all be open if it is a genuine Rolex date disk? Can anyone give me a little insight?

They vary but yours sounds new to me.

My 6's and 9's are all open EXCEPT the 6 in 26. Mine happens to be a service date wheel but the original silver one for my 1680 was the same configuration with a closed 6 in 26.

If it bothers you I'm sure you could find a correct one. I'm not up on that model so perhaps yours is correct too...

Any other parts changed? I would not expect Rolex to change ONLY the date disc...

Is it normal to have a closed 6 but open 9, 16, 19, 26, and 29 are open?

My 16800, gloss dial with wg surrounds on the plots has all open 6 and 9's on a creamy off white date disc. I've had it from new and the wheel is the original.

My vintage OP Date (5,1XX,XXX from 1977) has all open 6's and 9's except for the 6 in 26. I'm pretty sure that it's the original date wheel.

I'm actually curious about this too. So only the 6th is closed. The 26th and all other 6 & 9s are open for mine.

Same for my 1972 GMT. Only the 6 in 26 is closed.
