Jordan Speith and BLRO
Anyone notice that during his interview last night with David Feherty, Jordan Speith was wearing a GMT-Master II BLRO?
Very nice considering he likely has his choice of any watch from entire Rolex line. |

He has many Rolex watches. However, I am not sure why he would want a purple and pink watch.

Actually, I own a BLRO and I do not consider it a purple and pink watch.
It sure does not appear purple and pink in my avatar. You stated Speith has many Rolex watches...really...how many and which models? |

He is a Rolex spokesperson they probably give him watches and ask him to rotate for various appearances.

As a Rolex ambassador it would be a little difficult to believe they pay him to wear their timepieces but he has to pay MSRP or even has to pay a screaming discount for them. Whether they are given to him or only provided for him to wear who knows, but if I'm him I wouldn't care. Almost certainly they would put numerous models at his disposal (they may choose those models) and encourage him to rotate among them. Otherwise, what's the point?

Im sorry but the BLRO is dead sexy. If it was released as an identical copy in SS there would still be a line for it. If you bash this watch you are just jealous you dont own one 9/10times.

He is one of the premier athletes in the world and an endorsement by him is worth millions. He earned over $25 million in endorsement deals alone last year and will probably almost double that this year. Not only would I imagine they would give him any timepiece he wants (less maybe some crazy blinged out versions) they probably give him a very healthy amount on top of that. |

Feherty is a key audience for Rolex and they are well aware of the viewing demographics and how they corespond to each model. The same goes for the majors Jordon won last year and when he was sized for a Green jacket wearing the Exp II. Jordon wearing a gold GMT throughout Feherty alone probably had an advertising equivalency of $100,000 or more and is a lot more effective than a single paid ad. Jordon's management team is well aware of that value and are paid to market the exposure back to Rolex. Speith is a key ambassador because he represents a younger demographic and Rolex needs to keep feeding new markets for what is considered a legacy brand. |
