SS Daytonas in Stock

My local AD has 2 SS Daytonas in stock. One black and one white. That's pretty rare, right??

I have a feeling that with the arrival of the ceramic Daytona, alot of the 116520s will be surfacing at ADs that were locked up in back "in the safe". Gotta move em now, the new models are on the lot!

Why would a dealer keep stock in a safe and not sell them? That makes absolutely no sense considering how much cash they had to outlay to acquire them from Rolex and then let them sit in a safe?

Oh ok. That makes sense. The black one was out for at least 4 days and they just put the white one out today.

For those special customers. They can do so without worry because that watch is so in demand.

It's both funny and sad to see ADs moving these "elusive" 116520 from the safe to display glass.
Perhaps they will now be willing to discount?

Exactly. They could sell them within 30 minutes of making a phone call if they wanted to. That won't change even with the new ones coming out.

Buy one get one free...next few months the secondary and gray will see a bunch of them.

With the price almost the exact same as ceramic, it will be a tough sell.

Personally I think Rolex should have put the ceramic a $15k price point and they would still sell everyone.

They are leaving money/profit on the table IMHO.

agree, plus there is going to be a long waiting list for the new ceramic daytona, it won't fulfill it's demand for at least a few years anyway.

I've never understood the idea of putting them in a safe, either. None of the local dealers here have a secret stash in a safe. They simply sell Rolex watches.

I understand where you're coming from. From what I have been told some of these AD's have customers that spend over $100,000 a year with them. Mine does. So it's my understanding that if a special piece comes in that's hard-to-find they hold it for those special customers for a while first. That makes perfect sense to me but then I'm in sales too.

Well stated Paul...And both at the same price point, I know which one I want! BTW...you weren't kidding Paul when you told me about the Ceramic Daytona release days ago! Well done!

That's going to take a few years. It's not a vintage, nor is it the latest and greatest anymore.

Agreed. $15K would have been a good number IMO and would have kept a lot of current SS Daytona owners happier until they could get their hands on a new one. Depending on supply, they will likely sell for more than that on the secondary market for some period of time. Either way, I am hopeful to get one! Got to my AD very early today but who knows how their mysterious list will actually work. I am not a frequent purchaser or a big client of theirs, other than my last Daytona.

Well I guess it wouldn't be a "secret stash" if you knew about it!
