Why not? It would be nice to call it the "something".

The wheel was installed by Dallas RSC

WHAT?!?! First off, it looks great! That's a nice touch that ought to be factory! Second, how in the world were you able to get them to do that? Did you need to escalate the issue? Or they just did?? I've read on the forums here that RSC not only does NOT do stuff like that, but if you were to send your Rolex in for service with say a roulette or green date wheel, they would remove it. How did you manage this?

Looks great!

Thanks for the comments. I sent it to Dallas RSC for warranty repair. When the watch came back, it had a green date wheel. I called them back and they told me they made a mistake, that the green wheel only comes with the 116718LV.

Rolex has acknowledged the mistake and it is documented on their service database. They told me to send it back to change it and I said hell no! I am not waiting 8 more weeks. Never mind I have 4 Rolex...
Rolex indicated that they will change it during the next service.

Here is the thread for reference:

I'm surprised RSC would install a green date wheel. I was under the impression it has to be an original option for the model??

I don't know which models it was specifically produced for but am 99.9% sure the LN was not one of them.

GMT Master II or 116710LN. Both awesome names, and also happens to be what Rolex calls them.

Great watch, by the way!

GMTiiC is not hard to write and everyone understands that it's the LN vs BLNR

GMTIIC could mean 8-10+ different models if you're including gold and TT versions.

In SS alone there LN, BLNR, BLRO, VTNR.

So I don't think that's the way to go.

I never really cared either way about nick names, but from time to time enjoy it and even use them. After all, even ADs know what the "batman" is better than a BLNR.

That said, between all the bezel options and 126 vs 116 variations, I actually think we NEED to come back to earth here and just call this watch a 116710LN.

Done.

Great thread!
It's a shame they won't let you keep it next service or offer it to the rest of us. I'd def go to an independant CW21 with a Rolex parts account for your next service. I'm going to hit up my guy to see if he can do this to mine! Changes the whole watch for me. I fell back in love with mine after seeing the thread. I was thinking of letting mine go for a new DaytonaC500SS or whatever it's being called. If I can have a green date wheel installed, def keeping it and just coming out more for the DayC when I can finally have one (not holding my breath for this year).

Excellent!

It is amazing to see how a small detail like that makes an otherwise bland watch spark again...
