Scratching your watch....thoughts?
Wanted peoples opinions on getting those first scratches, marks, or dinks on your new watch. Do people get mad and annoyed or its just a part of the journey?

First one was on the clasp of my datejust. I had it looking like new with scotchbrite. Less than a day later, I desk dived it again exactly like it looked before. Now I just live with it. Truthfully only I really notice it.

Scratches, no problem. Dings on the other hand, not so good. Put your arm behind when going through doorways in a short sleeve shirt, until you get used to wearing it.

Scratches are inevitable, something you have to be willing to live with to find true enjoyment in this hobby.
However, I certainly practice wrist awareness and take care in cleaning my watch the right way and generally try to avoid scratches whenever possible. |

the 1st one always sucks, but then it's part of owning one. I have a DJ that I've owned for 17 years and one night about 10 years ago I was having a little too much fun and put a small chip in the crystal, I never fixed it. Every time I see that little chip I remember the fun I had with some friends that night.

Just noticed a few new scratches on my Z-Blue Milgauss near the 1 o'clock lug. Don't know when it happened, sure it'll buff out.

Every brand new watch, the first scratch always hurts. The second scratch brings some relief. The third and onwards add familiarity.

Initially yes, but then I get over it as shit happens and I just grin and bear it. It's just a watch and it will have scratches, dings, etc. No biggie and just enjoy the hell out of wearing it and in good health.

I had rolex take out a link in my watch and I think they made a small mark on the adjacent link (hardly noticeable to anyone but of course I can see it) and its killing me! May have them replace that link with the one they removed, but that may be a tad OCD

Drives me nuts at first but I get over it. There is no alternative. The only way to avoid them is to keep it tucked away in the box.

Did you not see my thread I made about a dent on my new sub c a couple days ago.I'm not that bothered. It's only really notiacble because it has no other marks or scars.when it get lots of scratches the initial dent warped edge won't be on my mind as much.dents dings scrapes and scars will happen.impossible to completely avoid for m, happens to all my peices. So chill and enjoy the watch that's the advice I was given and its true and good advice
