Rolex Yacht Master 29mm & 35mm questions
I am looking to buy a yacht master (platinum dial) for my wife in either the 29mm (don't know the model number because it is apparently discontinued) or 35mm (168622) and I had her try on one of each at rolex AD's in london this afternoon.
These watches were both "new", and at major rolex AD's , not grey sellers, but were clearly older models. So my question is less about "what kind of discount i can expect" and more about trying to figure out how long they have been sitting there unsold as leverage in a negotiation. Questions are as follows: #1. As far as I know the 29mm was discontinued somewhere around 2012/2013? Is that correct? I figure if that is the case, and they have not been able to move it in at least 4 years there is going to be some wiggle room there. #2 On the 35mm i thought i noticed (although not 100% sure) it did not have the easy link extension on the clasp but had the older style (the one with the holes on each side of the clasp). So when was the easy link introduced on the 35mm yacht master as I know it standard on the new ones. Again, I am trying to figure out how long it has been sitting there unsold. Thanks |

#1 169622 (29mm) was discontinued in 2012 #2 168622 (35mm) never got the new style bracelet, and so never got easylink extension. It only occured this year at Basel, but with the new model 268622 which is now 37mm, not more 35mm. |

I was not sure, but was almost positive the one she tried on was the old style, I only recognized it as possible an old style when looking on rolex's website after we got home which states it has an easy link. Hence the confusion: Rolex's website lists the 35mm as having an easy link and the one she tried on didn't have one, so when was this added or if it was not added is it a typo on Rolex's website? .
up to Basel 2016 , the only YM with easylink was the 40mm 116622 , introduced in 2012 with this feature (bracelet 78800). Since Basel 2016 (march this year), Rolex added the 116621 (40mm, TT RG/SS) and the 268622 (37mm, Rolesium SS and platinum dial and bezel) , both with easylink feature. 35mm 168622 never had it. Here's what Rolex site says about its bracelet, no mention of easylink : . |

THE OYSTER BRACELET Model features The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology, designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock folding clasp, which prevents accidental opening and the Easylink comfort extension link, also exclusive to Rolex. This ingenious system allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, providing additional comfort in any circumstance. |

Buy one and you'll see if easylink is there ... I am afraid it will be too late to cry then ... What you quote is a general sentence about Oyster bracelets. |

If you just read the description of the watch on Rolex's website it says it has an easy link... it there plan as day. The Quote i posted was in the DESCRIPTION of the 35mm from rolex's website. So according to you this is a typo then? Its listed by Rolex as being there, there is no debate about that

What is important is the specific description of each model, what I showed you in a previous post. Note that 35mm 168622 will be discontinued this year, now that it is replaced by 37mm 268622 (available between june and september at AD's shops). |

I'm fine with your explanation, and fine if it doesn't have one, I'm a little tired of the fact that you don't seem to see that its a little misleading on their website and reasonable for me to ask for clarification. You post something that says it doesn't have an easy link and i post something that says it does, its confusing. I don't care if it has an easy link or not, that was never the point. A reasonable person would assume it has one due to the description rolex has provided. Thanks for pointing out that Rolex's website isn't totally accurate in that regard, appreciated

Alpino is a reliable source of rolex information. You can trust him the first time he writes it.
