Thinking about a 16710
There was a recent thread in which the OP was debating between a 116710 and a 16710. I'm having a similar "dilemma", and I'd like to use my 16610 as a baseline. I've had my Sub for 17 yrs, and I couldn't be happier with how it wears. Of the two GMT's, which one feels more like the Sub on your wrist? (If it's even possible to draw a close comparison) My dad has a 16750 that he's had since '82, and I like the way it feels compared to my Sub, but I don't know if there are any differences in how it wears versus the 16710. If any members who have had experience with the Sub and the GMT's could chime in on how they feel on your wrist, I'd appreciate your input.
Thanks... Mike |

Currently in my line up I have a 16233 16600, 116710 and a 216570.
If you are used to your 16610 I say go for the 16710 and not the 116710. I love my batman but when I switch between my other sport/professional rolexes I can't help but feel the super case watch doesn't match up with a 20mm endlink and bracelet well from an asthetics point of view. My 216570 is better balanced IMO with a 42mm case and a slightly wider endlink. Also the chunkier case of the 116710 may not be your cup of tea as its more head heavy. . I think the 16710 is a perfect pairing to your 16610 if you want a closer feel when it comes to how it wears. But as everyone always says go try on a couple of watches and choose the one that sings to you

I own
16610 116610lv 16710 I had 116710ln The "6 digit" wears the largest and heaviest by far, but the gridlock bracelet makes up for the weight and wears like a dream. The 16710 wears the smallest of those listed above. It isn't much smaller than the 16610, but it is thinner. My opinion is get the 16710 as supplies are limited. They aren't going to skyrocket in value but they aren't going to get cheaper either. The 116710 will always be there. Good luck.

I also had a 16610 that I wore daily for years. I picked up a 16710 Pepsi 6 months ago and haven't taken it off. The 16710 is lighter and more comfortable to wear than a sub. I never thought my sub was heavy or uncomfortable but I really prefer the feel of the 16710.
I also looked at the 6 digit offerings but I personally feel that the bracelet looks out of place with the thicker lugs. I've tried a couple of them on but just can't get used to that case. So for me it's 5 digit Rolexes. Like someone said, get the 3 bezel inserts and you have a very versatile watch. |

I also have a 16610. Also consider it baseline/ foundation of collection. However, my 16710 is my favorite daily wearer. The comfort and versatility are excellent. The only downside for me, the dinky little crown. Can feel like turning a toothpick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

16710. If you change your mind you can sell it for what you paid. Though, I've never understood this "selling of watches" thing people talk about.

Thanks for all of the input and reassurances on the 16710. I've been leaning 75/25 on the side of the older model, but I've gotta admit that I've had a reservation or two, with the crown size being one of them. In the greater scheme of things, the crown is a minor issue when I consider all of the characteristics of the 16710 that I prefer over the 116710. The older dial and smaller indices definitely get a  over the newer one, and as several members have mentioned, the ability to swap out the bezel inserts is another check in the plus column. Lastly, it seems as if the wrist presence will be closer to that of my Sub, which is primarily what I'm looking for. Thanks again to all who have contributed and given their input. Mike |

The 16710 is my go-to watch. I have a complete collection of inserts, and it's currently sporting a black bezel insert these days, though it was a Coke out of the box.
Beautiful watch. You will enjoy it!

I have a 116710, and now I really want to add a 16710 Coke because I love how my 14060 wears and want a similar-feeling GMT.
I suspect that a 16710 may be the perfect travel watch - light, comfortable, not flashy, and obviously the whole multiple time zone thing. |

Thanks for the additional viewpoints. I found this while doing a little research, and it has definitely helped seal the deal that my next watch will be a 16710. The more I look at the stunning photos of this model on TRF, the more I want one!

Mike, going against the flow here. For me it is a no brainer. If you compare and feel the new ceramic on your wrist than only the 116710 can win.
It is just in every aspect much more a solid feel and substantial. If I put on a 16710 i am missing this in spite of this reference looking great on pictures. Before you buy handle and do wear both is my advice. The difference is huge.

the 16710 will be much closer in similar wrist feel to your 16610. Go for it and get all 3 bezel inserts.
