Which ROO would you choose?
Dear fellow users,
I am thinking of adding a ROO to my collection. I would like to buy one with metal bracelet. I narrowed down my choices to 2 models: 1) old model 26170 with Panda dial - this comes by default with metal bracelet 2) actual model 26470 with black/red dial - this comes with black-red leather strap but a metal bracelet is available as "extra" I like very much the Panda dial, maybe it pops out a little more than the more subtle black/red. However, the new model has some new features that make me think about it: ceramic pushers, see-through case back, some small changes on the case design and slightly crisper details on the dial. I am curious what you are thinking. Do the updates on the new model compensate for the slightly less attractive dial? (photos were taken from the web) Thank you! |

I prefer the newer models with ceramic crowns and buttons, and display backs.
Also like the new hands, with a modern geometric update on the baton hands. |

I own the 26740. All of the differences you cite are relevant considerations. One point-- setting the time and seeing the exact minute marker is difficult without good eyes (or glasses) and good light due to the red markings on black. Personally I like the number markings on the seconds hand, which was removed in the newer model. However, I like the caseback and ceramic pushers on the latest release. So all a set of tradeoffs.

I prefer the older, "classic" Dial color combinations.
For new 2014SIHH ones with sapphire/exhibition back, I do NOT like: 1. Lack of numerals in seconds counter 2. Thinner arabic numerals on dial So yes, it is personal preference! ;) |

I thought I was the only one who did not like the lack of the numerals on the seconds counter

I voted for the new model but it's a real close call. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, so let your heart guide you. It seems that you have a slight preference for the old panda dial and that's pretty important for such a personal decision.

Very tough one, I too prefer the character of the now rather iconic panda dial and the older subdials, but probably the newer updates would just swing it for me. The new black dial was nicer than I was expecting as well, pops a lot more than in pics.

I own a newer style elephant and definitely went out of my way to get the updated ROO. Love the ceramic pushers, crown and exhibition caseback. Also like the clean numeral free second hand sub dial.
I will say though, the white and black panda dial is much more attractive than the newer black and red dial. If the continued to offer it I might have been really torn between the two. Of the new ROO dials though, the safari is my second favorite, the navy third and the black last. |

In this case, I'd go for the updated Offshore.
