Protective film options
After buying a new submariner, I happened to leave on the protective film that covered the outside clasp. After a few wears, it needed to be removed and, of course, I picked up a gouge at some point -- not a swirl or brush scratch, but an ugly and annoying line across the clasp.
Question is if anyone can recommend where I can buy (amazon?) some thin, transparent, protective sticker (similar to what comes on the watch) that I can at least apply to the outside of the clasp. I am already annoyed by the scratch I obtained and I always make sure I am "aware" of my wrist anyway. A local AD offered to buff it out but I didn't want to trust them to buff/polish my brand new piece. Thanks~ |

If it really bothers you let your AD take care of it. Otherwise (and you will hear this from many others) simply try to accept that scratches, gouges, swirls, etc. are going to be a fact of life and just enjoy your watch. Don't go to any extremes like protective tape. You will drive yourself crazy.

Agree, helicopter tape is amazing and always keep a roll of it here since using it for the Formula 2000 car. Tough stuff! Also works great on the leading edge of your bicycle frame, lower portion of the car's front bumper, etc.

Also, you wouldn't buy a new Porsche and then put tape and padding all over the wheels before enjoying it would you? So why would you with the watch? Be free and enjoy the watch my friend, you've picked a beauty and it should be worn

These threads kind of amuse me anymore. A search would produce many results. Furthermore they always evolve into the wrap it versus ding it camps until someone points out it's not really a discussion the op is looking for rather advice on protection. Carry on.

Only way to avoid scratches is to leave in safe.
