Tried on New Datejust 41m PICS
Hi all, as a follow up to my post yesterday, I did manage to finally see the DJ41m in person, try it on and take a few pics. I have been waiting in anticipation for this reference. I have always sought the classic TT jubilee with a champagne dial but did not like the proportions of the DJ2, especially after acquiring a vintage 16014, which I love and think is sized right. So if this one didn't do the trick, I was going to purchase a 116233 and be done.
My initial feeling from looking at pictures, was that the new DJ41 might still be a bit too large for my tastes in what for me, is a suit watch. Well I can tell you now that is not the case. It is amazing what some subtle changes can do. I have attached some pics below, which I think still don't show the restrained elegance of this watch. My impressions are the watch face and bezel now looks proportionate. The narrower stick markers look way better. The way the bracelet integrates into the watch is much more refined and elegant. For those of you troubled by the oyster clasp, it is really quite well done and much more subtle than you would think. Definitely not a deal breaker, in fact I prefer it. Anyhow some pictures posted below, sorry for the poor quality, I am sure we will see more from more members as this beauty starts to surface. Cheers. |
