Why so hard to get GMT II 116710BLNR
Trying to get one through Tournau. Promised one today in NYC but could not make it and it was sold from under me. I even was able to put more than 50% down but since I couldn't make it today, it was sold. What's the deal with this model as is the frenzy the same as the SS Daytona? Hopefully my local store can come up with one for me and if it wasn't for the credit I have with that business I may have gone to Chrono24. Any comments or insightful thoughts would be appreciated. I guess I just needed to vent as the woman at 53rd and Madison threw me under the bus.

Just be patient. I don't believe that it is a hard piece to procure at all. When I wanted it, I just walked into the AD, and it was there. I would imagine in NYC that there are a ton of ADs carrying the piece. I also don't believe you should have to put 50% down to "reserve" it, but if I did, I would p1ssed as hell that she didn't hold it for me, and I would get my deposit back.

I wouldn't waste your time with Tourneau. Try venturing out of the City for better prospects. Give London Jewelers in Manhassat a call and speak with Angelo. They're not that difficult to obtain.

What's the point of a deposit if it doesn't hold the watch?
Ask for the deposit back and vote with your feet. |

there are a few TRF sellers here in tristate area. Around $8K you get a pretty good condition one.
I was in Rolex 5th ave HQ store last summer and they had the BLNR there in stock. |

I would not be dealing with an AD that behaved like that. Having a piece sold out from under me would be a relationship killer.

I'm confused. You have the credit with your local dealer or tournaue?

That being said, when watches are on lists, most Dealers give you a time limit to get in to buy. If you can't make it they give the next person on the list (and possibly another salesman) the chance. Probably have had too many no-shows in their business.

Yes
I have a credit from a returned watch so I am forced to stay with Tourneau. They won't give me a refund and frankly I'm ok as long as I can acquire the GMT 116710BlNR. I guess I just need some patience but that lady in NYC really pissed me off that she couldn't wait until tomorrow morning.

To this day I still have never seen a BLNR in any AD in Manhattan. I emailed my favorite TRF seller and had a brand new one shipped to me in a matter of days.
Edit: I just saw your response above about being tied to Tourneau. I guess if that's the case you'll have to be patient, and then strike quickly next time they call. |

is credit with that specific Tourneau? Maybe call other Tourneaus in the country and ask to use that credit towards a blnr. There will probably be a few of them if you ask around

It's actually not that hard. Reach a trusted seller on this forum and you could have one on your wrist this week.

Kinda amazing that in spite of the new SS Daytona( 166500), the BLNR is still being sought out by a lot of people.

Sorry to hear of your "episode" with the AD - this situation was the same for me here in Australia, couldn't get one for love nor money (they did want a 50% deposit) so when I saw one just sitting there in an AD on Maui - I grabbed it on the spot, and it's had a lot of wrist time ever since, so I wish you well and hope you get one soon...
cheers |

Does Tourneau ship? Maybe you can call other states and see if they can ship it to save taxes?

I was in Tenerife last week, they had one right in the window, ready to buy; no one on the waiting list...

Be patient you'll get one! It is one of the few allocation watches for Rolex along with Daytona and DSSD Blue so AD's don't get nearly as many. Demand still strong on them and with dealers getting only a few a year they move quickly.

Frustrating for sure. Patience is the only answer since you're tied to that AD.
Great watch and will be worth the payoff when your time comes. Looking forward to wristshots! |

Here in the Philippines, there is still a long waiting for the BLNR even with the release of the new SS Daytona.
