New or old Daytona ?
Or would you rather have a zenith Daytona or a ceramic Daytona? Now I am also going to include the steel bezel Daytona 116520... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have always been a huge fan of the White Dial Zenith...
But I've not seen a 116500 in person so I really couldn't say... Based on the pictures I've seen, I don't think one could go wrong with either ... And the asking prices I've seen for a Zenith with B & P seem to be comparable to a new 116500... The Zenith is probably more collectable, if that's important... But I would think that the 116500 would be a more practical choice in the long run...??? That is if you can call any 10k-plus watch "practical"... |

The Daytona is the only sport model I've never owned. That said, the new ceramic Daytona is sublime. I don't want one but you can't deny its worth the hype

All solid choices but have to say really love the new 116500LN. The bezel and new sub dials really add to aesthetics of the Daytona.

I think I prefer the 16520 'Zenith' Daytona. I hope to have one soon. I'm also still happy with my 116520.
Having seen the new versions I think they are nice, but I still prefer the older watches. |

Same here, I have both but 116520 is my all time favorite. I haven't see the black dial 116500 yet, but planning to add one to the collection if available.

White dial 116520 and black dial 116500 will be a nice combo if I can ever get my hands on the ceramic.

I currently have the 116520 and I ordered 116500 (coming soon), thinking I would sell the old and keep the new.
These two seem different enough to consider keeping both... |

Call me crazy, but I love the Zenith. There is no denying that the ceramic is an amazing watch and is well worth every penny, I just can't see the justification for the inflated price(s) right now. It's similar to when the Milgauss green came out and everyone wanted one and prices were similarly inflated. They both are interesting releases from Rolex and would be fitting for any collection.

Disagree about the Milly comparison, let's be honest that watch has historically been unpopular. I do think ceramic Dayton prices are going to come down but there isn't the exuberance of $20k Millys like before. There's a healthy premium but nobody is making double their money on Daytonas.

I would get the new ceramic only if i could get it at msrp price and not pay a premium. Otherwise i cpuld live with the older models.

I have the Zenith 16520 in both black and white but can't wait to pick up my white 116500. Without actually handling it I think I can already say I prefer the new 116500. It's what I pictured as the perfect SS Daytona long before it's intro.

I would go with the new Daytona-C unless you specifically wanted the Zenith movement.

I'm a huge fan of the discontinued model with the polished steel bezel. That being said though, it now has a more striking appearance / more wrist presence because of the ceramic bezel. Also, it's scratch resistant! A high polished metal bezel has a propensity to highlight any scratches. For a collectors item that mainly sits in the safe it would be the old one. For something I would actually be wearing daily for life, the updated model hands down.
