The Magic of Lume!!

My 1995 16570 never stood out to me one way or the other.

When I got the 216570 what stood out immediately is the blue lume.

And here is why the polar white dial is really so amazing on this watch - in the bright light my dial is white on white. When i hit shade/shadow etc etc i'm looking at glowing blue jumping out of the white dial.

My LV the blue lume looks kind of green. It's the green dial that does that.

On my LN sub or BLNR you can easily tell it's a blue lume against the black dial.
But it doesn't pop. It looks bluer than the LV, but it still doesn't jump out at you - even with the blue cerachrome color splash against it.

I'm going to assume as well on the black dial 216570 it doesn't pop the same blue. Floating hands, sure.

But that white, though

The lume on my 114300 is somewhere between "'eh" and terrible and it's only 6mo old. The sport models definitely have a better application. Lume never really bothered me much, so as long as it does its job, even a mediocre job, I'm fine.

You are not lying. The lume on my 114300 is terrible. My SKX has a way better lume.

believe it or not...even with the Indiglo option, Timex has the best lume. the hands glow with minimal 'charging'.

Rolexes were at their best with tritium even though the 'shelf-life' illumination was only 12 years or so. radium, though effective for 1600 years+ is another story...why risk the gamma?

so the question remains...since Rolexes & Tudors are made within close proximity, why do the Tudors glow better? can't Rolex simply incorporate the same lume as Tudors?

What we really need Rolex to do is to take a page from Tudor.
Subs without lumed bezels is so last Century.

I completely agree there.

More irritated about sapphire crystal glare
