Great race , Australian Eamon Sullivan breaks the world record for 100m in the first leg. The US were behind all the way until the last 2 metres. Well done

I missed it 'cause I was away at work......but watched the replay. It was indeed an amazing race which the US won by a whisker and possibly a finger tip from the French!!

It was the most amazing finish I have ever seen. Not only did the US team win, and in doing so set a new Olympic and world record, loping nearly 4 seconds off the old record, but the first 5 teams beat the old world record.
You gotta feel sorry for the Swedes. They beat the old world record and only came in 5th. Somehow, though, I don't feel the least bit sorry for the French. The old saying, "Don't count your chikens till they've hatched" never had a more appropriate meaning.
