DaytonaC, Prime Rib, AP day

Well I went to an AD today in downtown SF to order a green rubber strap for my Aquanaut. They have 3 DaytonaC's but couldn't sell it to me.

They let me try it on. Didn't even think about it, but I should of tried on both, but black is my choice.

Looks good doesn't it?

After ordering my strap, went to dinner:

Today was a good day!

They wouldn't sell you the Daytona C?

Did you still buy the strap form them? Should have walked

The black looks great on your wrist - and you got a nice slab of Prime Rib - great Monday.

I assume the Daytona was spoken for? If not that is a bit rude with 3 in stock.

It wasn't clear if it was spoken for or if it'll only be offered to a buyer willing to purchase multiple high ticket watches at the same time.

She said they were only allotted 3 for 2016 and 3 for 2017.

3 for 2016 makes sense as they are only available for less than half a year. But 3 for 2017 makes zero sense as they would have a full year of orders. It just does not make sense logically.

Seems strange if they were actually spoken for, what's the chance that three people who have been waiting for these watches just let them sit there?

Not to cool to be letting strangers try on another customers watch.

I was at an AD and they had a daytonaC but it was already reserved for someone. They said I could look at it and try it on but I said no because of exactly this.

This should be the correct response. I made sure the Wynn locked mine up until I was ready to collect.

This is the one of the most aggravating things for me when it comes to AD experiences. If someone has a watch reserved - especially with a deposit - it should not go on anyone else's wrist. Ever.

It's not a low end AD thing either. I was brought out a watch at the Patek salon which had the same deal. The associate was ready to unbox it when he said "unfortunately this is on hold for another customer but we can order you one." I told him to stop and I didn't want to try it on. I'd want the ssame courtesy.

I doubt they're actually already sold to any customer...a lot of ADs have them, but they're not for sale unless you're wanting to spend a lot of money. One AD is making professional athletes that are good customers wait unless they want to spend $500k on other stuff in the store before they'll sell one of the in stock ceramic Daytonas.
