One of my favorite spots on the planet!! My wife and I had our quintessential sunset photo taken at the Inn at Spanish Bay while the Bagpiper played. I just love that area, it's where we 'd like to retire... that or Napa.

I just bought out another advisor that wanted to retire. She retired to Napa, Yountsville, actually. She bought a 1,200 sqft house for $925k, cute little place and you can walk to all the drinking spots.

I was just up there, it's booming with real estate moving at 15%+ a year, I'd but now and rent it for the next # of years and then retire to it. The house next door to them is most always rented at $10K a month which is only $300 a night and can you can't stay anywhere for $300 a night. I stayed at Silverado and it was $525 night.

I almost did buy a place in 2003 to do this exact thing, lease/rent for 15 years or so. if I had it would be close to being paid off by now and I'd be sitting pretty. I have a thousand "shoulda, coulda, woulda's in my life, this is just one of them LOL
