Rediscovering my Exp1
I know this is the perfect size for my 6.25" wrist, but my brain cannot adjust to the 36mm after having worn 40mm for years
I bought it NOS almost a year ago and has sat in my safe except on a few occasions, but I think I'm finally warming up to it. Such a cool under the radar watch. Cheers and thanks for looking! |

Of all the Rolex references, the 36mm Explorers are probably the most under the radar that exists.
I've had my Explorer called out as fake by so many people it's a shame, including the owner of a YG DD, which was authentic. I don't actually mind, but I lose all respect for the people who do so, because it is just very poor form. I can't tell you how many obvious fakes I see in some settings where the people are well enough off to buy a luxury watch if they so desired, but I remain silent, because it's not my job to call out fake watches. All that aside, my 114270 is the favorite of all my Rolex watches and it always will be. My wrist is 7.75", by the way.

Love the Exp 1 on a leather strap. I too have to work to "rediscover" mine - particularly when I'm wearing 40-45mm pieces in rotation.

36mm explorers are so classic. I regret selling my 1016 and 14270

Thanks for the kind words. Interestingly, the dial appears to be about the same diameter as the 40mm professionals.

I really like the looks of the smaller explorers, seems to me like it would be very comfortable to wear.
