Moisture Damage/RSC

Recently I sent my 42-yr old 1680/8 to the RSC in Dallas for its first service. The service estimate indicated "Dial and hands moisture damaged" but there was no mention of corrosion to any of the components. It would seem reasonable to me that RSC technicians would have noted corrosion if any existed. I presume that the technicians disassemble the watches in for service to the extent that any corrosion would be obvious. The watch is being serviced currently.

Anyone have any experience with anything similar?

That is correct, they will give you a complete estimate and any corrosion to the movement would have been noted.

Here's another RSC inconsistancy story for you. A few years back I owned an Oysterquartz two tone. I had sent it to the old Beverly Hills for servicing and they replaced a dial and hand set. Without any issues, and certainly no removal of the case back, I wore the watch proudly until the battery died, and to take advantage of the 'free' battery change offer that Rolex offers, I sent the watch off to the Dallas RSC (Beverly Hills had closed its operation at that point).

The battery was changed and the watch returned to me without charge, but on the intake service papers, the watch condition was listed with 'scratched hands'. Now, how could the hands have been scratched if the case was never opened? Or were scratched hands installed at the major service?

I called Dallas to inquire and wasn't really given a good answer, and to my eye, there were no scratches on the hands, so I let the matter drop, but it was still a bit odd after all.
