14060M Sub or 2016 214270 Explorer?

Hi guys, thought I'd seek out some wisdom from the guys at TRF for my first post. Some background: I have a GMT 2 BLNR as my first Rolex for the past 3 years or so, and while I love it, I find that the PCL and large proportions gives it large wrist presence and I'm not always comfortable wearing it 24/7.

As such, I'm looking for a more understated Rolex as a daily wearer while keeping the BLNR for the weekend or fancier occasions. I also love experimenting with straps (NATO, leather, etc.) and so I need a versatile watch that is reliable in all situations, while keeping the BLNR on the bracelet as it just looks best on it.

I've narrowed down my choices to a used 14060M No Date Sub or the new 2016 214270 Explorer. The sub first caught my eye and I'm unfazed by the complaints of the old bracelet as I will be keeping it on straps most of the time. However, I'm a little worried that it might be too similar to the GMT and hence I was thinking of going for something a little different. That's when I saw the new explorer.

Can someone help me out here?
