DayDate Trade?
I have a Daydate yellow gold that's been an almost daily wearer since when I bought it new in the mid1980s it keeps near perfect time and it shows gentle wear. Derive has been with Rolex.
I asked an AD with whom I've done a lot of business over the past 20 years about a trade for a new DayDate yellow gold. The net cost with trade and tax is about $25,000. I'm sure it's a fair price. I've spent that much and more on a piece of jewelry for my wife, but spending it on myself gives me the willies. Money isn't the problem. The problem is my feeling about money. I grew up poor, was an aggressive saver/invested, worked hard, had some wonderful lucrative jobs, and retired very comfortably. Being retired and with long lived parents somehow makes one more conservative about luxury spending. I think I will look at some used DayDates. I've always bought new, so this will be a learning experience. I may just sit pat with the old DayDate, Datejust, Patek, and new GMT. |
