Do you leave the stickers on?

How many of you leave any of the stickers on your watch?

I have a colleague who recently purchased his first Rolex (a Subc). He's been wearing it for several weeks, and refuses to peel off the stickers. I get it, it's his first luxury watch, and he's very careful with it. But I give him a hard time nonetheless.

Personally, I remove all the stickers prior to slapping a new watch on my wrist.

So just curious what other members do.

When I first got my SubC I babied the crap out of it. I left the stickers on until I resized, and promised myself I'd keep all the stickers neatly laid out in the watch box. 10 minutes after peeling who knows how many stickers I gave up and trashed them all except for the nifty barcode one.

On my 2016 Exp I, I bought it used and noticed it still has a sticker on the clasp that the previous owner didn't pull off. I'm gonna see how long it will last, but I'll probably get bored one day and pull it.

Keep giving your colleague a hard time, it's pointless leaving plastic on a Rolex. The first few micro scratches are painful (especially on clasps), but you get used to it just like a new car.

I love having stickers on my watch but after a couple weeks of use, they get really dirty. So I peel them off. I dont think having stickers on a watch would prevent me from enjoying it. This is totally a personal preference.

I remove all stickers save the one protecting the case back and leave it as long as I can (read stays clean). Once it gets a bit grimy, off it comes . . .

I prefer the metal of the caseback against my skin, or sapphire crystal on other watches. Maybe if the current Rolex's still had those hologram caseback stickers, I might've left mine on.

Personal preference.

New GMT - Asked the dealer to take them off in the shop...enjoy
A friend of mine kept his on incase he ever sold it...don't understand that

When,,,when,,,,when (if) I ever get a D-Blue. The stickers will also come straight off...will never sell.

Keep for ever.

I tell AD to remove the stickers and I wear the watch out of the store

It's a watch you wear it

If you leave stickers on u might as well leave it in the box. Also I think it's totally unhygienic all the dead skin, dirt, guck gets caught in the stickers. Ewwww

I only leave caseback sticker on to protect it from getting scratch by the bracelet. Also the caseback sticker can't be seen when I wear the watch.

I love the stickers! Not sure if I'm weird or something but I leave it on and usually my sleeve rubs on it and it slowly rubs off that way. Lol
I leave it for myself and I don't think people even notice my watch to notice

Chaps

I was under the impression that the Ads are required to remove the stickers the moment they receive payment.

My AD who is very old school and a stickler for the rules always takes them off, the argument being that the moment they leave the shop, they are effectively second hand.

He even does it for watches that have been serviced.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I am only reporting what I have been told.

Regards

Mick

I find it funny anyone who would leave the stickers on. Especially that green circle sticker I sometimes see on the caseback. It's not an iPhone needing a screen protector. Keeping them in the box is a bit odd.

I take off all the stickers except the case back sticker. It helps keep the bracelet from scratching the case back and you can't see it anyway. Eventually it will come off too.

Yeah this has been reported by many. However, it seems to vary AD to AD. I purchased a D-Blue in June from an AD and they didn't seem to care one bit about sticker removal.

I suppose they do thisthoug to prevent "flipping" which is funny cause there's what? 2 models in existence that you can flip for profit from AD pricing! Obviously the SS Ceramic Daytona and probably the D-Blue. Perhaps the BLNR as well depending on where in the world you live.

Anyway I never heard of anyone getting 5% off a datejust MSRP, leaving the AD and flipping for a profit, with or without the stickers. If you're getting a big enough discount from an AD to flip a common reference for profit, you're a customer they're making many exceptions for and I seriously doubt any AD would put up a fuss over stickers for one of their most valued clients.

I don't want stickers in my life. They have to go. This includes the warning stickers in my car, alarm sticker on the windscreen. Everything! Stickers must be peeled off.

I asked the dealer to take them all off of my DSSD in the shop. I can't understand why anyone would leave them on unless it's a naive attempt to protect resale. Once it's got it's first scratches it's s/h and I doubt they'd last long while I'm diving anyway. Once dust, salt and grit start to get under the edges of the stickers it will act like a nice grinding paste and leave some odd markings I'll wager. Make it yours and take them off!

They all come off although I have to confess to missing the caseback sticker on my first.

I remove the stickers including the caseback one. I love to see a nice shiny caseback, although it does pick up scratches from the bracelet (not the end of the world - at least you can't see caseback scratches most of the time).

I remove my stickers. I always get a chuckle out of individuals who leave them on and then wear the watch out of the house. Most of the time it is someone who is new to the watch game. As long as the watch was not damaged in transport, I wish they did not have stickers.

My AD encouraged me to leave them on (he didn't make a big thing of it, just said you can hardly see them and they help with preventing scratches), so I suspect it's not a formal policy to insist on removal. Maybe some ADs do but that's probably just that store.

I too had in mind to keep them in the box, but after peeling off plenty and still finding more every time I looked over the next hour or two, got bored and just scrunched them up into the bin. It's not like they form a normal part of 'the full set' if you're selling it on, so no-one will expect to find them.

Of course the next day I wore a short-sleeved shirt to work and scuffed the heck out the polished section of the clasp, so I probably should have left that one on!

Yes, leave them on. Leave the bezel protector on too. In fact, leave the watch in the box, tie a string to it and simply wear it around your neck. Make sure all of the papers are in the box as well

I remove them all and some of the Rolex watches stickers are still in the box while other watch stickers are dumped

I seriously doubt that anything that will scratch a Rolex case can be prevented from doing so by a piece of glorified Saran Wrap.

I leave them on. When it gets pointed out on the WRUW threads I get nervous and immediately sell the watch.

No. I had a couple of friends, growing up, whose parents kept their furniture wrapped in plastic and would not remove it. I am thinking if they chose to buy Rolex they would have left the stickers on.
