16800 Matte vs BLNR
Give me your take on the 16800 matte dial vs the BLNR... future value wise (since look is subjective).
Went to take a look at a 1680, 16610, and BLNR. For some odd reason, the 1680 didn't really click with me as I thought it would. I actually kinda like the cheaper 16610. So it will probably boil down to either a 16800 matte dial vs the BLNR. The BLNR seems a bit larger and blingy, but my main factor is future value. In term of future value, which would fare better? The 16800 matte as the last of the sub matte or the BLNR?? I welcome our input. thanks, anthony |

The BLNR would be a better "investment" (additionally I have one and really enjoy it), but good God... If you're going to base your decision on the future value of these mid-tier sports watches, maybe you should find a different hobby...

As for the 16800, if you can find a good condition matte dial with matching hands, dial and pearl, I would jump on it in a heartbeat. This is the last of the matte dial Rolexes to skyrocket, but it's alread starting to happen... So find one now and you'll for sure see an increase in price over the next say 1-2 years. Forget the papers and go for a solid strong example with nice fat lugs and crownguards. In my opinion the 16800 matte is the greatest of all Rolex watches ever produced. All the trimmings of the newer models, but with the vintage feel and at a (yet) affordable price. Unbeatable |
