Bezel removal - Daytona 116500

Hi all,

Just wondering do any of you use a tool to remove the bezel of polished Daytona bezel? For subs I simply use a knife as is much looser to snap it out.

I will never try to remove it. With my luck, it will not go back on properly.

But a 166500 have a ceramic bezel and I guess there is another tool for that.

The Sub has a rotating bezel, so it is not making pressure / sealing against the crystal. On the Daytona the bezel is fixed, so it sits tightly against the crystal. I would imagine the tool above (very nice) could be used for removing either one, as well as a normal knife edge as you suggest.

Rolex use it for both and a Daytona with sapphire crystal have no connection to the bezel only to the case.

I'd imagine a certain extra level of care is required with the ceramic bezel. Remove at your own risk !

My apologies, it was a typo, I was asking for a 116520. Contemplating putting in a bakelite or a after market ceramic bezel for fun.Thanks a lot for all your responses.

Getting the bezel off is one thing, putting it back on is another. You'll need to have a specific press for that as you just can't snap it back in with your fingers.

Ceramic bezel would be very rigid, if the wrong pressure is applied it will surely chip or crack requiring expensive repair vs steel or gold bezel that may bend or ding which may be fixed or ignored without much to do.
