Cyclops Magnification

Advice please?

Is it me or does the GMTII BLNR magnification seem a little low compared to the other two?

Should I do anything about it?

Thanks is advance.

Yes it does look a little smaller. Plenty of threads on here about it. If it bugs you take it to RSC to fix

I thought a member from Feb 2006 would be giving us this advice?

You asked a magnification question back then as I recall?

OMG yes but that was comparing a 36mm DD with a GMTII the conclusion being different watch diameters.

These are all 40mm!

yes, it looks smaller but not too small. I would wear it, enjoy it and not think about it. When it is time for a service I would ask them to check it and replace if it was not in specs.

Smaller. Send it in. It'll get sorted in a couple of weeks.

The problem these days is that Rolex don't specify what the magnification should be.
I should imagine that any rectification work on the part of Rolex would be a good will gesture in this case and also a matter of luck.

The sub case is 47.60mm thick the GMT 47.65mm thick so there will be very very very very slight difference but a blind man would love to see it.

Seems fine, if I remember correctly the criteria back then to determine reduced magnification was if the window appeared smaler than the font size of the 6 on the bezel, it seems ok... don't sweat it! Wear and enjoy...

The crystal is closer to the dial on the Sub and DJ. The GMT has to make room for the GMT hand.

Wouldn't bother me. You only notice a slight difference when you compare them like this photo. On your wrist, not so much.

This has bothered you enough to the point that you needed to post publicly about it. It is now in YOUR MIND and will bug you everytime you look at your watch. There is nothing anyone can tell you that will change this.

As already pointed out, only one thing can...send the watch in to have the cyclops replaced

Beautiful watches! To me it wouldn't be worth the hassle of fixing and having your watch gone for awhile.

If it keeps eating at you though go ahead and get it fixed. You don't want anything to take away from your enjoyment.

wouldn't bother me but looks like it bothers you.

take it in with 3 mo left on your warranty for a fresh crystal. rolex has probably factored in that they'll need to eventually replace them at n/c anyway so wear it until then.

Slightly different, but still very easy to read the date.

Now i'm curious...

Can anyone verify 6R15 comment on the fact that the crystal is not as close on the GMT to make room for the extra hand? First time i've heard this.... if so, it would explain a penalty on magnification....

Discuss....

How about 5-digit GMT watches? Do their magnifications all look smaller?
