Rolex magazine score!
I went into my local AD last week and asked about the Rolex magazines 1,2,3 if they had any they were willing to part with. They said they weren't sure but they'll ask around, took my name and number. They called me back a few days later to let me know they got me issues 1,2,3 of the rolex magazine. So I went in to pick them up and asked about 4,5,6 and they said hold on let me check. They came back out with 4,5,6 so I scored all issues of the Rolex magazine just like that! I can't believe my luck!! I was surprised to get called back let alone acquire all six issues.
Since reading them I am amazed at how well laid out everything is in each issue. Every picture is literally perfect, no matter what topic or article is inside to go along with the pictures. However I did notice some differences. If you have them please check yours as a cross reference. As soon as you flip the front cover to open the book, the inside front cover on issues 1,3,5,6 is SILVER color. Issue 1 had a slightly darker color silver than the 3,5,6. I found that interesting because issues 2,4 are GOLD color. Issue 2 had a darker gold color than 4. I checked all of them under different lights at my home so I know Im not crazy. I was wondering if maybe the Gold color means the issue I got came from the first printing of that edition and silver color means second printing of that edition. Does anyone know? Has anybody else noticed the color differences? Please check because Im curious and thats why I posted this somewhat detailed info regarding the Rolex magazines. Thanks for reading I look froward to your responses regarding the color on the inside of front covers. Cheers! |

Great score! Walking out with the complete set is awesome! Sounds like an AD that knows how to take care of someone.

That doesn't sound right, could they be fake?

Do you have any rolex magazines with different color inside covers? I wrote this post to see if there were discrepancies with the magazines. I don't think they are fake because I got them from an official authorized dealer. Anyone else have the different colors on the inside cover? |

Same as you. 2 and 4 gold.
For the others issues, it's silver. |

Oh boy oh boy!
You've got some collectible brochures there. Gold color in the front covers you say? I think those are the rare "error" covers collectors go mad over. Sounds like you've got an Antiques Road show moment on your hands. |
