Is it Normal for the Ring Arrow to be Off!
As you can see in both pictures its not possible to get the ring arrow exactly above the 12 oclock arrow. Can this be adjusted or will the whole ceramic ring need ti be repositioned?

Mine is a bit off also and it has been on all previous subs I've owned (4 total) I usually go to the next click and slide it back.
Ps. I don't really think it is "off" possibly just the viewing angles.

But to the original poster no, but I think your Ring Arrow might be Off,its a simple time lapse bezel thats meant to be turned. And not left permanently left within a fraction of a cats whisker of the 12 marker, trouble today Rolex have stopped making watches as they now seem to only make alignment points with some.

However, I'm not sure if it's covered under warranty, but any squeaky wheel will eventually get some grease. Let us know if you pursue this...

OP, you're gonna hear a lot of talk belittling your concern. Don't worry about all that. Although I don't think it's that big a deal I don't blame you for your concern. I had the same issue with my SubC. It's not something I would normally go too far out of my way to have fixed but a couple years ago, I had to have my bezel insert replaced at RSC, under warranty for another reason. Since I was there I asked them about the "ring arrow" alignment, and in their words they said... "Oh yes, that's not right, we'll fix that too." I've had plenty of not so great experiences with RSC and one thing they don't like to do is take responsibility for an issue with your watch, so for them to say they would "fix that" (which obviously implies that it is broken) means to me that you have a valid concern regardless of what anyone here says. If it's really bothering you, get it sorted out at RSC. Of course if you can get over and not worry about it, that's the easiest solution, but do whatever will be you happiest and get you quicker back on the path to enjoying your watch. |

if it were an aluminum insert, you could fix it yourself. but with the ceramic, no way lest you break it and then you're out $800

There is play in the bezel and can be moved in either direction very, very carefully/slowly and you can align the arrow to any mark. If you go too far, the bezel will click to the next position and you'll have to go all the way around again. As far as I've read around here it is normal.

There is probably some allowable tolerance for the insert triangle to be considered "correct" by Rolex. It doesn't really correlate to the inner dial in any way, so it's more of your own comfort level than it is any functional issue.

The man at RSC told me they should line up bang on the markers which mine does after it was tweaked. Wind it to the 12 position and take the back lash out and it should be perfect. Remember to allow for the parallax effect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The triangle gently locks in place at 12 on the Black Bay. I don't know why Rolex doesn't make that happen on Subs.

Interesting. Just looked at my subC and noticed that the ring arrow was also off just slightly to the left. Then I saw Shay2nak's post about play in the bezel. I was able to gently turn it to the right and now the alignment is perfect.

Is it Normal for the Ring Arrow to be Off!
I Think if I had your watch I'd be doubly annoyed
1) the marker not being centered over 12 2) the ceramic insert/PIP not being directly lined underneath the "tooth" or dip of the bezel. #2 is what's wrong with mine, like yours but I see them on the Smurf, Bluesy, the solid YG sub... so if those ones have the issue, I'll just leave mine be. Who knows what may happen if you send it into RSC? Comes back with a scratch or mar on the watch, etc. If the crown on the rehaut is off too... oh man... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
