Destination bachelor party

I turned down an invitation to a three day destination bachelor party. It would be $1k before boots hit the ground and probably another $1k in food, drink, etc. while there. I am a groomsman and everyone on the invite is from the same area. I don't understand the need to spend the money. In any case, I am not hurting for money but declined the invitation. The way I feel about it is I would rather spend that money on time with my wife, or use it towards inventory for the business we are putting a plan together for, or a shiny new watch. Not on a party with a bunch of people that I wouldn't necessarily hang out with otherwise. In any case I foresee a shunning coming on and I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with this?

These guys are on the immature side a bit and somewhat difficult to be around normally. I wouldn't opt to go on vacation with them. Did a weekend with them once and probably wouldn't do another if invited. I am honestly surprised to be in the wedding.

I skipped one once that I was a groomans and told them I was unwell. I paid for my share of the rented house and such though. Only 3-400 so wasn't egregious.

I would honestly prefer a white lie for this sort of thing. Just flat out saying not interested doesn't play too well

I was very polite in the decline. I simply stated it wasn't in the cards for me and offered to take him out locally. I didn't think about donating towards his trip. Good idea.

Nope. I was given some infraction points which was discussed in another thread. Nice to see you too by the way.

From what little I know about mon I gather he's been king of a lot of things for the last few decades. You shouldn't be so quick to judge.

I had thought the handle MonBK stood for Mon Be King. I am glad that someone else has now confirmed it.

I had a destination batchelor party however it was a return to my home town in Scotland to which I am deeply sentimentally attached. I realized that it would involve quite a lot of outlay in terms of travel so I worked with my best man to keep costs as low as possible and my parents let us stay at their house (my mum was at my wife's hen do at the time so the effect wasn't spoiled). I wouldn't be impressed if I was expected to start handing over what significant numbers of watch-tokens as above.

I did a three day destination bachelor party, super fun. I wouldn't skip out on something like this if I were in the wedding. If the groom made you a groomsman he must think highly of you. The bachelor party is for him, not all the other people attending.

I've been on a few events like this. Not wedding related, but say a group of men my age "never cool in school", so now when they have a little money they need to prove to themselves, and their mates ( and vice versa) that they're cool....

These "events" are a train crash.

It's all about chasing tail and bashing their wives. Trying to act "cool" in the process.

I've cringed enough listening to these "friends" of mine (who I never hear of, except when it's time for these escapades) (Oh I'm not invited anymore BTW )

I'm not saying the OP or anyone else posting in this thread have my experiences, but it's simply not my kind of thing.
