$15k - Which Would You Choose?
I leaned out my collection as I lunched biz in 2015. Now I'm going to spend a smidgen on some pieces ($15k-$16k).
Below are my combos - all used... I know I want at least some gold. Let me know what you think. Combo #1 1) Two-tone sub blue/gold $7k 2) Breitling Chronomat $4k 3) Panerai Radiomir or 90 $5k total $16k Combo #2 1) Gold Sub with blue face $14k 2) Not much else for $2k haha Clearly combo #1 is more pieces. So I suppose the real question is whether the solid gold is worth 2x the two tone in presence! |

I like option 2,
But, if I had 15 K, I'd probably go for a couple nice steel Rolex pieces, or an AP 15400. Depends what your collection looks like now. |

I am shocked to hear so much would opt for the 1 more expensive piece than going for a rather nice two tone AND two more pieces.
Curious why so much incremental love for the gold Sub over two tone gold? |

Oh and regarding collection I have:
1920's gold Mathey Tissot thin profile dress watch. Looks like a Patek 1960's Wakmann sport watch. It is a German company that had Breitling make them that's it. The problem with the GMT LN , SUB C and DJ 36 suggestion is that there would be no Gold (unless the Date is really ragged) and also its all Rolly. Don't you guys believe in diversification? Dress watches etc? |

Even if you get the older 16618 it's going to be more than $15k. I'd rather get a 116613lb and a ss subC or gmt.

Usage, then color. Make a list, check it twice and start collecting. Seems you need a diver and a chrono. I would go steel Sub or better SD4k and save for a YG Daytona. Have fun, don't pull any hairs and enjoy the journey...
