Amplitude

I just got a Datejust 1601, I love DJs! It's 1969 Vintage, two tone, and the price was good. The crystal is kind of bad, and I have a new shop in my repertoire, a nice guy and strikes me as knowledgeable. His store has a tech he spoke highly of and will do the crystal. But he put it on the machine and discouraged me from keeping it. But I dig it, and while I like this fellow alot- I purchased a Grand Seiko at his lovely store- I don't get the feeling that he is into vintage stuff. Anyway, I can't return it now, it's past the 14 days they gave me, and I feel that if it needs service, it'd be worth it, 'cause I like the watch alot...

any comments or explanation of "amplitude"...

216 is low. May just need lubrication or full service. I think you want 240+ and 280+ is ideal. I'm sure someone will come along and provide better guidance. Amplitude also changes depending on position of the watch on the machine.

yes, that's what the gentleman said, "it's low"... but it's still working lol
Thanks Dave! I guess we'll see about this. For now, I'll get the crystal changed, see how it looks. The jubilee is stretched to the max, and though I've heard about that, it seems to lay on the wrist nicely. Play it by ear, others are in the rotation. The good price helps, it's still a Rolex, through and through...
