No date vs. no date

Hello fellow TRF ! Wanted to know what you think about the ultimate no date matchup between the latest kid on the block aka Daytona 500 and the Submariner ref 114060. Tell me your opinions and thought with pictures for each (or both).

2 very different watches however if you are suggesting you have both in a two Watch collection I would suggest that they would be extremely boring. Watch Collecting is supposed to be fun, open up to different brands and colours to truly appreciate these wonderful machines. For me 1 rolex is enough in a 5 watch collection, if I added another 3 I could realistically see myself adding another but that would be MAX
Incidentially if I had to pick one it would be the White face Daytona. If i must go black and must go Rolex sports a SD4k would be my choice

I have had the 116500 for a few months now and it has only left my wrist for maybe 48 hours combined aside from when I sent it to LAWW. It is really a winner for me as I love the size, classic case proportions, fit and overall aesthetic.

Before this watch my go to was the 116600. Now it feels a bit like wearing a brick. As such I have contemplated swapping it out for a 114060 and may do just that. I just need to get over the lugs. For me, these are both highly attractive pieces for their simplicity and lack of cyclops, which I am not particularly fond of these days.

They both tell time. The Sub let's you swim to Atlantis while the Daytona can make time stand still with the press of a button.

Both are stunning.

Daytona 116500 LN 002 definitely albeit Submariner has its own advantages too such as Glidelock, deeper water resistance and easier to get

Sub for me. Daytona dials too busy since Paul Newman era ended.

I owned a Daytona briefly back in the early 90's before they were super popular. Back then the SS Daytonas were plentiful and cheap as they were not as popular as models with gold.
I flipped the Daytona for a TT Sub as I couldn't live without the date on the Daytona and thought it wore too small on my wrist. I still would make the same decision today.

Get both, they compliment each other

And oh... Don't forget to throw Exp1 in the mix as well

Exp1 is just superb, the ultimate No Date Rolex in my opinion

As a one and only, Submariner hands down. But a Submariner (114060) and a white-faced DaytonaC would be a phenomenal pair!

Owning the blind sub is easier after owning the 500c.

To me it's a no brainer in favor of the Sub...clean dial, no cyclops, easy to tell time, which is the ultimate purpose of the watch. Admittedly, I am not a fan of the Daytona.

About that, I also got the Exp I from 2015. And I got the Daytona 520 white dial. By the looks of it, I only lack the 114060 which I'll hopefully have this year although I got the gmt c LN. But I feel I need the clean dial of the sub c.

The new Daytonas are amazing and I'm an owner but I'll always be more of a Sub guy if forced to choose.

They are both great watches. I don't think it is a fair comparison do to size and function. It would make a cool two watch collection. I would do the Daytona in white for some variation.

Well...for me, the Daytona wins the No Date battle, all day long.

But then again, I prefer the date whenever possible on my watches, so my subs all have the date.

Both great, both good looking and sporty. Made for different purpose though! Depends on lifestyle, and collection.
