Decided to carry out it's first cleaning :D

Read a lot of threads with info about using a toothbrush and dish soap but decided instead to go softer and use a paintbrush (gently, not near the metal bracing part) plus some ph neutral car shampoo (Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild) which works wonders on my car and bike, and did an awesome job on my watch - check out the dirt floating in the bowl after cleaning.

Finished off rinsing with warm water and then wrapped in a deep pile microfibre cloth to absorb the remaining water.

Only thing I would do different next time would be to put another microfibre cloth in the bowl itself so I could rest the watch on the bottom without worrying about scratching the PCLs :)

I can't really see how that paint brush would do much for a deep clean. I admit I'm a bit OCD about cleaning my watches and have often found even the softest toothbrushes to leave micro scratches on polished parts, so I use one of these. Works wonders. If you're anal about it like me, I would definitely give this a try. I guarantee it will me more affective than a paint brush.

Ill definitely give that a shot, the thought process with the paint brush was that the hairs are longer so can go through the links of the bracelet easier to disturb and push out debris :)

Interesting choice with the car shampoo. How does it compare with a non-detergent dish soap? Any theory on which would be gentler on seals?

Its designed for detailing enthusiasts who are anal about their vehicles paintwork (which is easier to scratch that 907L stainless) and seeing how well it works on my own cars dealing with tar, traffic film, dirt, salt etc from the road I reckon it's a good choice.

Here's the blub from the website:

This is a pH-neutral maintenance shampoo with good lubrication and high foaming capabilities, this helps prevent the dragging of dirt on paintwork during contact washing, helping to lubricate dirt and prevent it scratching during a contact wash. Furthermore, it can be used on glass without smearing (because it's free from wax and glaze oils), it uses only the highest quality ingredients (including biodegradable surfactants and limescale inhibitors). Wax-friendly - will not remove wax layers. High-foaming - lifts dirt away from paintwork.

To much coddling for me sorry. It is a watch on your wrist, I don't see the need to pamper..
I get that it's expensive, relative more so to some than others, but it isn't a medical device that needs sterilization (maybe that will be the new way to clean), it's just a wrist accessory. Seems far too many want a watch to admire these days, rather than a watch to wear and enjoy...?
All the watch solutions you clean your watch with now, sure they clean well and leave your watch 'sparkling', but is it really 'better' for the watch? Take it out in the sun, and by the end of the day, it looks just like any other washed with simple soap and warm water... (Key is to rinse well)

I wear my watches, and wear them 24 hours a day. They work, sleep, shower, and everything in between. Once in a while, I'll clean them whilst showering with a toothbrush and soap. Done. Clean.
No solutions, no micro fiber cloths, just water and whatever soap agent is close at hand.. Sure, I get a little residue after a year or so under the buckle (that no one sees other than me), but a quick dip in an ultrasonic cleaner every couple years gets that gone in no time..and none of my watches are badly scuffed or scratched, and all are worn well.

Each to their own, I just suggest a little more wearing, you'll enjoy it more.

Totally see your point but its new to me so still in that honeymoon period Im afraid - my car however hasnt seen a clean in 2 months! :D

Wearing every day, even at the gym - hence deciding to degunk it today. And I did stop short of buying special Wristclean solutions to use if that helps give me any brownie points :D

Use a toothbrush. Trust me it won't hurt it. On the contrary....

I agree. Neutral PH? Soft brush? Microfiber towels?

Hand soap and a good scrub with an old tooth brush does the job.

I got really enthusiastic once and bought some veraet, but there's no discernable difference so I don't see the point, hand soap is more convenient as it's always in the right place.......so is the wife's toothbrush

I use an electric toothbrush (dedicated to cleaning my watches) and some dish soap to scrub out every nook and cranny. Works fine for me.

You've never had a PM watch, have you? A standard toothbrush will scratch polished gold with masses of micro swirls I'd used to give it a good old scrub n:

Yeah I also found soft toothbrushes to leave micro swirls as well. I just use soap, water, and my finger. It seems to work really well.

Those PCL's are going to keep you awake at night! Just wear it in the shower for a daily rinse and for a deep clean go and swim for an hour in the pool.
Wait.....won't the chlorine affect the seals? fear not, an expert will be along shortly ;)

I personally dont trust any brush to be "soft" enough, but I also have alot of PM watches. I just do the plain old soap and water and microfiber dry after hair dryer and thats it

in any event your watch came out great!
