Kickstarter watches
I'm starting to see an abundance of kickstarter watches and wonder if this is part of a trend which will ultimately hurt further the cheap fashion watches already taking a beating from the like of Apple etc. for the most part these kickstarters are designed by fellow enthusiast who have an eye for what we as watch community want to see.
I've ordered up a cheap travel beater to give it a try and with 8 weeks till delivery I've just received update pics - although not earth shattering it looks quite good IMO and I'm quite excited Anyone else bought a kickstarter watch and what's your thoughts? |

Well, every watch company has to start somewhere.. so, who knows.. that "beater" watch you purchased may be worth a pretty penny one day. However, watch sales are down and continue to go down year after year. Unfortunately, the millennial generation doesn't care for the art of watches like generations prior did and still do. I, being a millennial myself, see this as unfortunate as I love watches.

I've looked at a few but haven't bitten yet. Yours looks good. Contact info? (You might have to PM it if it squeezes TRF rules)

I’m the same – there are a good few that have a certain appeal. |

I was in the first wave of the Pebble watch on Kickstarter. I guess you know how that just ended - my advice is to buy 2 so you have the parts to fix the first one after the company ceases to exist...

They present a good value for money axiom quite well. I haven't bought any of these watches but I find them very interesting too

Bought this one on KS:
http://www.scurowatches.com Pretty crappy by Rolexforum type watch standards. Heck my Victorinox is much nicer. Bezel has a lot of play, fit is off, Finish is off. Pretty much a timex with a Citizen movement. Good thing I only payed $179 for it. I gave it to a friend who has some stylish cheap quartz watches. Now he has an automatic but of similar quality. |
