Reasonably price for this 16013?

Hi guys, its my first time posting here. I know this question has been asked multiple times and it ranges somewhere between 2200-3000. My dealer is asking for 3000. I noticed that the dial is somewhat unique(definitely have seen it around but certainly not common). Also the dealer told me the watch has never been polished which i am not too sure about. Your feedback on the condition of this watch and price will be appreciated.

The deal structure: my iwc portofino+$1000 or $3000

Hello,

For me this is too expensive. First i don't know if it's the pictures or me but look like a piepan dial, so it would be a 1601.

But considering that i'm wrong, 3000 is too expensive, assuming you don't talk about a full full set with service card of every 5 years, no strecth jubilee etc.

Also when you look at the watch it's in perfect state no airlines, so execpt it was a safe queen stored in a safe for many years, the watch has been polished.

After the watch looks fine to me, but a bit overpriced.

cheers

Overpriced by about 15%. But you don't know when it was last serviced. Here's mine: paid less than $3k about 2 years ago -- 1601, ~1967, mint, serviced and full B&P. I think it's OK to overpay somewhat for an amazing piece from an impeccable seller.

First off ...stating that the piece in question has been polished is a bit ridiculous considering the age of the piece...with that being said the lugs still look to have plenty of meat left on them...is $3k a bit steep...yes I would say so but if you would get it for $2500-$2800 I think you'd be doing ok

The nice ones are bringing more money. Fat lugs, corrosion free cases, good bracelets and a fresh service can bring that or better. B&P even more. New world gentlemen. :)

$3000 from a dealer is not over-priced. $3000 from anprivate seller is a decent price too. Nice watches are always priced at the higher end of the spectrum.

$2500-$2800 would be the right price range.

Thank you so much for the replies guys! So im assuming if the movement is 3035 itd be 16013 and if its not itd be 1601. Im buying this from a watchsmith who specializes in servicing rolex watches in Korea. The bracelet was in a very good condition which i was very happy about. 3000 does seem relatively expensive but it does include ttwo year service guarantee from the watchsmith. One more question tho...what are the service restrictions from Rolex if i have no box and paper??

You'd be upgrading from your IWC, so if you don't foresee having any regrets being without it, I'd make the trade.

No restrictions from Rolex on service. They check for non-factory parts and the serial number to see if it's stolen and that's about it.

Not a bad deal if you trust the dealer. It's more than you would pay here on TRF but cheaper than some high end boutique jewelers. It's fair.

To know the future is to be trapped by it

Got my first rolex!!

Thank you again for the replies and warm welcome to the community. I ended up getting my first rolex by upgrading it from my old iwc for approx. $900. Im loving the watch and it goes well with the wedding band haha. Kind of wish i got the ring in YG/PT instead of RG/PT.

Also special thanks to onthedial for the advice!

All 5 digit refs are 18k, the four digit refs were 14k. There were 14 and 18k even some early 9k all gold 16XX. I'm not sure if any solid 16XXX were offered in 14k but I doubt it.

Ah i see. So it says on the band H14 which means its 14k but i believe the bezel is 18k as i can see slight difference in color between the bezel and the bracelet. I checked the movement and it says 3035. Didnt rolex put 3035 into datejust starting 5 digit models? Im a bit confused here. I checked the forum and it says some 16013 were 14k. Not that it matters to me at the moment since im so much in love with this piece but thought itd be nice to know.

You have an older bracelet that didn't come with your watch, it's from an earlier 16XX series watch. Your watch is a 16013 TT that has a 3035 movement. It would have come with an 18k bezel, 18k capped crown and 18k bracelet links.

you might ask your seller for the correct bracelet, you paid top dollar and should get a correct watch. You kinda got screwed. Try to get a series of pics of every angle of the bracelet and clasp. Looking at the pics above there is a possibility the links are aftermarket.

Bracelet pics

So I gave the dealer a call asking about the ref and the bracelet. He told me that the watch is 16013 and added that the earlier 16013 models were produced in 14k and later on got switched to 18k. He also said that the bezel and gold part of the watch head is also 14k. Does anyone have any insight into this subject matter?

Hey based on my knowledge. He is 100% right. It means that your watch should date to 1980-1982. The guy above probably caused a spike in your blood pressure that may have taken a week or so off your life.

Yes the dealer is correct, early 5 digit were 14k trim. The clasp is marked 14k as well. nice watch.

i agree 100%. i would snap on that trade deal before the guy changes his mind. that datejust looks gorgeous and that IWC is one of the most boring low-end models they ever made.

edit: i didn't bother to read the entire thread and see you did indeed do the smart thing and grab the deal. that datejust is a stunner!

A 16013 can have a pie-pan dial? Really?

Maybe it's the dial color but that isn't a piepan.
