Basel 2017 Daytona - new endlinks?

Curious as to why no one has swapped their leather strap for an Oysterflex on the current line of gold Daytona. We know the Oysterflex has not changed, is it because the new endlinks are shorter to accommodate the thickness of the Oysterflex?

For instance, the RG 116515 is basically the same watch.

Interesting. I would definitely consider the option of having an Oysterflex for my RG Chocolate.

100% you should. If I had a 116515 the first thing I would do is get a rubber B for it. Now you may have something even better... Rolex made oysterflex!! Do it! Then post pics :)

The oysterflex only looks good with the endlinks. My 116500 would not look as nice

Thanks, Chadri. Yes, looks like all the 2012 RG Daytona leather are now on Oysterflex on the website. Woohoo.
Personally I prefer leather strap on a PM but to have the option for summer and beach

Maybe you could get the white gold end links with the oyster flex. That would probably look great

Yes I agree. I should have mentioned that too, that the OEM leather strap looks amazing. It's all about the options though!

With so many euthusiasts on the forum, doesn't make sense why no one has thought to put an oysterflex on over third party rubber - since we see plenty of rubber b and Everest here. I always thought the oysterflex was too thick for the endlinks, but these new photos from Basel show that's not the case.

Looking forward to some wrist shots!

Did Rolex do away with the leather strap option on the RG Chocolates (and similar watches)? I am not seeing them under the "configuration" settings. If so, that is disappointing as I was planning on one these in the future and I would use the leather more often than rubber (but would like the option to switch).

The previous Oysterflex was for the no end link YM. Now there are some made for the Daytonas I'm sure more will buy.

No they don't unless you have 116655 or now new Daytona. They will not sell separately for any other watch.

The 'strap' and 'oysterflex' clasps fit differently. I think it's the reason why no one has put oysterflex on the 116515 because a new clasp would cost a fortune

Anyone think I could franken an Oysterflex for my 116520? Not sure about the dimensions of the endlinks.

Yeah I am wondering the same thing myself. I'm going to get the 116515LN (again) now with the Oysterflex, but hope that the leather option is still also available to switch it up and make the watch more versatile (sporty with rubber strap, dressy with leather strap options)

The clasp is interchangeable for 116655 YM and all the steel daytonas - 116520 116500 and now the new 2017 gold ones. You're right, probably the clasp for leather equipped references have a different opening.

I took off the oysterflex from my YM and put it on the Daytona - perfect fit, the only catch is the gap without endlinks.

The Oysterflex uses the same clasp as the bracelet models however clasp for the leather strap Daytona is different which I think he was referring to.

The OP is curious why nobody swapped their strap for the oysterflex:

1) For those who had the 116515 in rose gold with ceramic bezel (like myself) THE option was rubber b. Not even everest makes a strap for this model Rolex. RSC would not sell you one as it was only on the YM.
2) Daytona on oysterflex came out just a few days ago so people need a chance.
3) Me personally? Since I have chocolate rubber b I will stop by RSC in NYC next week to see if I can get the black oysterflex. I will wear my watch in and hope for the best.
4) Lastsly, the oysterflex did not fit the case of the YM the way a curved everest or rubber b does. I see the case on the daytona is different than on the YM at the lugs - they did the right thing by putting this combo together. I had called for it coming out on Explorer 2 but this is a perfect fit.

I would definitely get some end links to finish off that look if it works like that. I remember finding a chap on here that makes SS end links for NATO possibilities, I wonder if that will work for OF...How is the feel compared to the regular oyster?

*** I just pulled my 116515 on rubber b out and the fittings into the clasp are totally different than how you put on straps for SubC or GMTC - same as the daytona you have pictured.

But both on the leather it comes on stock and the rubber b, there is a notch taken out on the side with the flip and on the other side it fits right into the clasp like it does on my 42mm explorer 2 - not cut out into the oyster link if that makes sense.

So this oysterflex for my clasp has to be different or i'm going to need a different clasp.

Make sense?

I did say above the Oysterflex uses the same style of clasp as the bracelet models where as the leather uses a totally different one.

Oysterflex clasp

Leather strap clasp
