I remember having a discussion with the Omega vintage watch gurus on an Altair watch but it was the name of a model under their asymmetrical Hamilton Electric series manufactured by Hamilton Watch Company. This Hamilton Electric Altair made in 1961 has a very accurate Calibre movement, one of the rarest most sought after models as only 1600 of such timepieces were made. If you happen to come across a Hamilton Altair complete with the original band & undamaged twisted lugs , you have struck a Goldmine !

The other Altair watch which is the one described by you was made in the 50s and 60s by a Swiss company called J. Boillat & Fils of Les Breuleux using Calibre movements made by A Schild but the accuracy is not as good as the Hamilton Electric Altairs. Can you read the last line on dial ?
It reads " Unbreakable Main Spring "
If you like the Altair , then get it restored with a redial and replating fitted perhaps a nice brown leather strap but I wouldnt advise you to spend a fortune to get it fully restored only to be sold off later because this Swiss brand is relatively unknown and there are cheaper vintage alternatives on the ebay market
