Rolex Auction 10/17/2008 -- Sotherby's NYC

I just wanted to point out to people that on October 17th, 2008 in New York Sotherby's has a HUGE number of Rolex watches up for auction (68 total). I think this will be one of the biggest watch auctions of the year. If you have not yet seen their catalog, you can browse it here:

http://browse.sothebys.com/?&cat=1&e...b=1&dp=Watches

Very exciting to see so many unique and rare watches.

Great find. Some of those guide prices seem a bit optimistic for the LVs.

Cool post! - looks like a great place to pay more than retail for a used watch. Vintage is one thing - but modern watches, what a joke!

I am sure they have some kind of a buyer's premium on top of the winning bid as well.

Plus the 8.25 sales tax. I get better vigs from my loanshark.

Yeah, i went there a couple of years ago.
It's wasn't worth the price most Rollies reached plus the 8.25tax + the buyer premium.

This one could be a bargain!

This one is a seriously screwed-up watch
http://www.sothebys.com/app/live/lot...t_id=159477066

BUT...
this lot http://www.sothebys.com/app/live/lot...t_id=159493418 has an estimate of $2million… !!!

If YOU had $2m, I bet this wouldn’t be at the top of your list!
