Do these models get boring?

Hello everyone, I've been seeing a lot pop up lately on the BLNR getting boring to folks. That one has been on my radar but not as much as the Hulk. Does the Hulk get boring over time? I have a Bluesy sunburst that never seems to get old but looking for a second watch to add. Feedback would be great!

The problem with these models is the hype and the lack of the iconic status.

Just as an example, though I love the idea of the LV or BLNR, I remain more purist to the classics and iconic pieces which remain timeless and have been proven in time. Taking the sub for example, that would mean the legendary LN (black face black bezel). Of course the real purist would opt for the no-date but I prefer date complication on my watches when possible.

Sure you can get the addition joy of the BLNR or HUlK, but over time nothing will be be more balanced and consistent than the classics!

Of course this is my view and somewhat true in the general sense, but it does remain a personal taste depending on who you ask.

I am certainly not bored of my LVc. After over 4 years of ownership I love it more than I did when I first picked it up.

That's a totally subjective question, you'll get a different answer from every person.

The real question is do you think you will you ever get bored of the LVC?

I always take my time and apply a lot of thought to expensive purchases so I rarely make mistakes. If you buy on impulse your views on a piece may change after you own it

I appreciate the feedback, I do believe I won't get bored of it but it is always in the back of my head. I like it because it is different and not the common black that I tend to see more of.

This is exactly my thought. Mine was an impulse buy and when I was at the dealers looking at it for the first time I was blown away. However I anyways knew I was going to buy more than one watch and I could've went black, but wanted something different.

I also bought a blnr as that was the watch I wanted to buy.

I will say this though, coming from someone who has a little bit of a flipping issue, my LVC isn't going anywhere. I've owned it longer than almost any other watch in my stable and every time I even consider trading/selling it, I know I'd instantly regret it.

I hope to own a BLNR one day too, as I think it's probably the most versatile Rolex ever made. It would probably be my one and only if I could only have one.

In my experience, it's impossible to theorize exactly how much you'd enjoy the watch and whether it will remain appealing to you over time. I've had multiple changes of heart and ended up loving watches I dismissed for a long time because of design or colour, so I'd say that the only way to answer OP's question is for OP to actually own the watch. I've had pieces that I researched obsessively for a long time and was certain I would love only to realize after owning them that I actually will be happier with something else.

Lucky for us, Rolex watches, especially in steel, hold their value better than most other luxury brands (except, maybe, Patek). So it's not all that crazy to buy a watch to try it. Especially, if you get a pre-owned watch in mint or near-mint condition and it doesn't get all scuffed and dinged while you're wearing it, it's possible to get almost all the initial investment back or even make some money (in nominal terms, not adjusted for inflation) over a longer run.

I almost got a BLNR a year ago, but went with the black Sub-C I bought instead and I am glad I made that choice. The large bezel markings look too busy and the GMT function is pretty much useless to me. So I was perfectly happy with the black faced Sub-C for a while until I tried the Hulk and realized just how gorgeous it is compared to the LN which now looks bland and boring to me in comparison. Before, I always thought that the Hulk is "too green" and that it would be very difficult to match with clothing, but I now see it with different eyes and it actually looks great with anything adds a stylish accent to any outfit. The only downside is that it will draw more attention to your wrist than a black watch, but that may be a bonus for some :)

I agree with all that has been said and will include two more points to the discussion based on experience.

I only get bored when I:

1 - buy a watch that I "should" like due popular opinion and not the one I like.

2 - Impulse purchase. For me, impulse purchase is within a few weeks of getting the itch. I wait for a few months to see if the itch lasts or subsides.

Still, even if you avoid the above, you may get bored. It's the nature of this hobby. At least I understand myself better and am less bored

Watches don't get boring.

People get bored.

Boredom is something I rarely experience, so I don't know much about the experience, but it would seem to me that when people buy things without due deliberation and forethought, then they are more likely to be dissatisfied with their decisions.

I was at AD this past weekend in Atlanta. They always have a large assortment of Sports. I am particularly fond of the TT GMT 116713 (wish it was available without TT bracelet) so of course I had to try it on. But before the salesperson took it out of case .. she smiled and pointed down and said .. do you notice what else we have??? She was pointing at a BLNR in the case. I said .. yeah .. I know a lot of folks get excited over the Batman but its not for me.

All watch models get boring at some up point in time unless a watch has sentimental value to the owner. You may get bored with a BLNR but to others they get bored with their Submariner, Explorer, Datejust, Daytona, etc. Everyone in this forum has their own likes and dislikes.

I'd pick the hulk over the BLNR, even though you already have a sub. The BLNR is a beautiful watch but the hulk is very unique. You also already have a watch with blue obviously, so going green would be nice.

My Atlanta AD suggested I look at the green Sub. I did and it's just too too green for me. I have worn DayDate 25 plus years, DateJust 40+ years, and a BLNR for 9 months. Not tired of any. The BLNR make me smile every time I look at it. It is a stunning watch. I doubt I'll ever tire of it.

I tend to research a lot before I buy something, especially watches. That may be why I don't get tired of them. It took me a year before I pulled the trigger on the GMT. No regrets.

I rapidly got bored with my BLNR. Haven't owned a Hulk so can't comment (but the green isn't dark enough for me, so I never will).
