Grey market with warranty
Getting ready to pull the trigger and order my first Rolex. I have been looking at for a 116710 and think I found the one I'm gonna buy. Anyways how does the factory warranty work on a watch bought on the grey market (davidsw, takuya, sohais and such)? If the card is dated and even named to someone else but has time left on the warranty does the new buyer still have access to it in case they have an issue. Like mailing it into rsc will they still repair the watch?
Sorry for the new comer question. Big investment and some of these prices grey market can't be beat. Local Tourneau in my mall had v series 116710 without any boxes or paperwork just the watch and at first was asking $8050 for it. When I stepped in the new Rolex section they formed me of a sale 10% off bringing it down to $7245 plus tax. As opposed to $8450 brand new. Now I see on grey market I can get an almost nib for $7245. What is difference besides having my name on the card? |

Name on the card is irrelevant.
Buy from the trusted grey sellers and you'll have no problem

DavidSW seems to be the most well respected grey dealer btw, he'll likely be very honesty about warranty status of his watches. Seems like the guy is as legit as it gets.

Thank you all for your information. Like I said this it's all new to me. But can't see paying the high cost for pre-owned from Tourneau without any boxes, tags, or warranty when I can get the same watch newer and better condition for less.

Some people think that a Rolex is special, and having their name on the card and paying full retail makes it better. I'm with you - save the money!

I can tell you from personal experience that if you are unlucky enough to get a real problem, a good AD can he worth every penny. If you get issues with a new watch they can , at least in the UK get you a replacement ; try that with a grey dealer, no matter how diligent.
Of course, this is quite rare, but it does happen, it really does. I had several samples of the DD40, all faulty. I was then refunded all the cost, without question. Of course, after that quality of support, I simply bought another model from Rolex, from the same excellent AD. And I got a good discount too. As we say in the UK, 'you pay your money, and you make your choice.' |
