Original GMT 1675, ?

Speaking of Beckertime in another thread the other day concerning a vintage GMT that had an incorrect bezel, wrong box and a warranty paper that the seller never produced - comes this GMT. How the two are related is that the aforementioned watch being sold was originally purchased from Beckertime by the seller, and the GMT that I reference now is currently being auctioned by Beckertime on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/MENS-STAINLESS-S...d=p3286.c0.m14

This 1967 vintage GMT is being hyped as 100% original. Many of the parts are not original, but are Rolex replacement parts; to include the dial, bezel insert and band. While this might not mean much to some, the replacement parts do not enhance the value of the watch and there are many GMT's available for sale with the parts I mentioned that are original, unlike the watch being auctioned here. Further, while Beckertime has a good feedback rating, their auction descriptions and practices were questioned in the other GMT thread I mentioned earlier.

Personally, there seems to be a lack of expertise at Beckertime or the watches are being overly hyped for the unwary buyer. You'll have to make your own decision here.

With this in mind, I'd look elsewhere as there are many other correct/original GMT's for sale on the "bay." Personally, I think if one is buying a vintage GMT that is 100% original that they would expect nothing less. But, if this doesn't bother you, then this could be your auction.

If you are looking for a vintage GMT and you didn't know that many items on this watch were replacement parts, which substantially affect the value of the watch, I'd Watchout for this auction.

Have a great day my friends.

Well, you know Chris, it's really all perception. They are in it for the sale, and I'm in it as a buyer. I like a nice even playing field. What I've always said seems to come around time and time again, " if the game is rigged, you can't lose if you don't play!" Lately, you don't have to look much further than .........Wall Street.

This isn't Beckertime's first outing. (I can't wait for their reply, this outta be good, especially when we hear about all their satisfied customers.)

Here is the latest on this sale:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=110299573507

It looks like someone did complain and the auction was ended.

It claims it is no longer for sale. You must have rattled the cage John.

For what it's worth, I sent him an E mail and asked if "Beckertime replaced the hands, face, crystal, strap and end links or did Rolex"... the response was this beauty was gone! I also have questioned him about using the same pictures for different listings claiming different watches each time..
