AP road trip...

Set off early Thursday to the AP service centre in London, AP on my wirst of course..

Wasn't the best day to make the journey as it was rather warm and humid (by UK standards) I did have an invite from AP to go to the trunk show after the appointment but I had promised my daughter we'd take her down to the Rain Forest Cafe, so I dropped my wife and daughter off at Hamleys.

Off to the service centre

The staff were lovely and sat me down in a room all to myself with a nice glass of ice cold Coke (Rolex AD take note ) and off they took my new pride & joy

Hope they didn't notice my wallet

And here's she is back and looking good

So off I went to spend the rest of the day wife my family but they couldn't have me leave empty handed

Not going to make any rash decision so will see if the novelty wears off but after having the Ti and now getting the Daytona out it just feels too small and not as special as it used to

The SDc can still hold its own though and has been worn on days the ROO's not suitable.

Hmmm thought I'd found watch nivanna with these three

Very cool Sam, I see they gave you the same strap pouch that they recently gave me.

Did you get the GP strap in the end?

Yep but waiting until it's a little less humid, I'm not good with the heat.

looks great. That same one is going on my RG 44 fairly soon as well, after the summer. I really like it w/o the red on the side.

The red looks good on the GP & FC but felt for mine this would look better and glad I did as in real life it's very nice

In hindsight wished I'd of picked up another Ti buckle to make the swap over easier.

Just buy the Bergeon spring bar tool on EBay, the change takes about 2 mins even if you're working carefully/slowly.

There is a chinese saying : "一山还有一山高". Each mountain has another mountain higher than it. Each chrono has another chrono higher than it.

Yep great place and very friendly, they were on skelton staff due to the trunk show taking place.

Dare I say as the Ti fits in as my sports piece if the Daytona doesn't get back into the fold soon I may move it on for a RO and just keep the SDc.

Myself personally I never saw the huge fascination with the Daytona. But then again I never liked chronos and that's why I don't have one in the collection still. After I saw the ROO for the first time I said to myself if I ever got a chrono (and do plan to in the future to diversify the collection) it is going to be a ROO.

Since I got my RO I've had an ever increasing appreciation of the brand and want to move more into AP but I would have a hard time parting with my Rolex trio.

I considered this for mine too. The Cost was $7500 for the tang... lol No Thx, I'll just spend the extra time swapping it over. TBH, the buckle is the easiest/fastest part of the process. It can literally be done in under 60 secs.

What was wrong w the watch? (I musta missed a thread/post)

Sorry I meant the Ti tang buckle around £450

Nothing wrong I just went down to pick up both straps and had them fit the black while I was there

Look forward to seeing pics of the grey GP. If I was with you guys I probably would have gone off to Hamleys too, I still love that place.

Yeah I've got all the kit, sure you pointed me in the right direction on another thread

Hey I'm the guy who had two glidelock clasps for different straps

Im not good with the heat so a little too sweaty for it at the moment

We did Hamleys and then the Rain Forest cafe and finally topped it off with some shopping in Selfridges (bumped into Gino and that made my wife's day )

Had the invite to the AP trunk show but I'd promise the little one I'd take her to the RF cafe so couldn't let her down.

Looks like my collection might be in for another shuffle so will see about another city visit for some proper WIS window shopping

It was a shame to miss the trunk show but my daughter happiness is far more important

Yes they gave me a couple of catalogues, a service case and a service pouch

Love these stories. Seems like AP takes very good care of their customers. Makes me wonder why I consider risking it with Patek at this time
