Service Papers
Are service papers an adequate substitute for the original paperwork?
I'm looking at a watch on Chrono24 and the watch has been advertised as having box and papers, however when reading the small print, the description says it has box and 'service' papers. Is this ok, or is it a bit naughty/slightly misleading by the seller? Should the box and papers really mean original paperwork/guarantee. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Service papers are good to have in the absence of the original certificate or card.
It shows that the watch has passed a RSC inspection. If it states this in the advert can it be misleading?

Got mine with very recent RSC papers (like a month) and it made me WAY more comfortable buying the watch. Think about it - for a 30 year old watch - the original papers (if authentic) mean it was good 30 years ago ... whereas recent RSC papers mean that Rolex still blesses it to this day (and there may be a new warranty)!

They are to me. "Original" papers are worthless after the 2 or 5 year warranty has expired.

Depends on what you want the "papers" for.
If you are collecting, then a watch, with original papers, is only original one way.. If you just like saying "I have a watch with papers", then either one works. "Papers" are up to the buyer and what he/she wants, nobody but you knows what is at home in the closet.
