Daytona C first time on the wrist

I got this 6-7 weeks ago, but wore it for the first time tonight. It has been 15 years since I've owned a Daytona, and didn't keep that one long. I found it a little too blingy, felt small, and hard to read. At the time I was collecting Panerai's and everything seemed small! I really love the new Daytona! It has far more of a tool watch feel than the polished steel bezel had, which is surprising since I don't care for the ceramic bezel on the Subs, which I think really lost the tool watch vibe. I love the size, as my PP Aquanaut has given me a new appreciation for reasonable sized watches. I've been wearing my 6-digit polar Explorer II almost exclusively for the last couple of months (probably my favorite watch) and the Daytona is harder to read, but still an improvement over the previous model. I was a little worried that once I finally had this watch that it wouldn't live up to the hype, which might actually be why it took me so long to get around to wearing it. I get it now, and it's definitely something special.

Wait, so you waited 6-7 weeks to wear your 116500 or was that a typo and you waited 6-7 days

What took you so long, congrats!

I agree with everything you said except the part about tool watch for a SubC.

Looks great, congrats! Why did you wait so long to wear it?
Also, I´m curious to hear why exactly you consider this to be more of a tool-watch than the previous gen with metal bezel?

No, it was weeks! I got it, came home and sized it, and put it in the safe. I hadn't even looked at it since, until last night. It's not a piece I'll wear to the office, and I just haven't had any opportunity to wear it since I got it really. Possibly part of it was my worry that I wouldn't like it as much I thought I would, which thankfully isn't the case.

Awesome watch. Congrats. I couldn't imagine having that beauty looked up for 6 weeks before wearing her. It would drive me crazy.

Big congrats. That is a great pic of an absolutely beautiful watch. I have found that it can sometimes take a while to fully appreciate the intrinsic beauty of the Daytona. I had both the white and black SS 116520s and let them both go (although one was a trade + cash for another Daytona, lol), but I eventually repurchased another SS white 116520, and I scored a black 116500 C from my AD last December. Often with Rolex, I've found that the second time is the charm. One day I finally 'woke up' and realized that the Daytonas are awesome watches, and I now love absolutely everything about my current trio of Daytonas, including the size, the look, the fit, the history, the visual design, and the incredibly accurate movement. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your gorgeous new Daytona!
