Bit by Rolex bug!

Hey everyone,

New member here from New Mexico. (No, i don't use or manufacturer meth) damn that show breaking bad.

Anyways, I got hit with a watch bug a couple of months ago. What's strange is i've never been a "watch guy" (almost 30 years old). I guess I never paid much attention to them. A friend of mine has been in to watches for a few years and recently he sent me a photo of a new (to him) Rolex Datejust that he acquired and it hit me, badly.

So, here I have been staying up way too late, reading this forum and watching a ton of Youtube videos.

I actually tried to take the plunge this weekend on a Rolex 6694 manual wind model with MOP dial. I did "Buy it Now" paid immediately and 2 days later I receive a cancellation notice & refund alert with absolutely no explanation from the seller. My guess is because I bought it for $1,500 he realized he left a little money on the table. A bit irritating but, what can you do?

So, now i'm going back and forth wondering if the 6694 is really going to suit me or if I should hold out for a newer sapphire model.

Anyways, you guys are all very helpful on this forum, and after lurking the forums for some time and learning quite a bit I thought i'd register and say hello.
