Trade SubC for Pelagos?

Per the thread title.

I know it sounds crazy, but I can't help but feel there's a redundancy in my collection with the Hulk and Black SubC.

I tried on the Pelagos today and really liked it - especially the luminous bezel and the lightweight titanium feel. I feel like it would be a lot more comfortable when going diving or swimming with it, as the Sub is pretty heavy by comparison.

Would love to hear thoughts from current Pelagos owners!

It would have to be a trade plus substantial cash. The Pelagos is really nice, but not worth a straight trade.

Yes, of course, forgot to mention that I would ask for cash on top, or I would just flip the Sub and then buy the Pelagos from my AD.

Personally, I'd go in another direction. Perhaps flip the Sub LN for something else....GMT?

Do you have the Sub or Sub w/date? I think the LV and the Submariner make a great pair.

I do want to have a watch to dive with - as I am a relatively frequent diver. I have no intention of taking the Hulk diving, so there's kind of a tool watch/dive watch gap in the collection.

I've ruled out the SD43 or DSSD - both are too big for my wrists. So when I think about getting another dive watch, the Pelagos seems to fit the bill quite nicely with the lightweight titanium case and awesome legibility.

The other option I've floated is trading for a 5-digit SD or Sub.

Seems like a reasonable idea; there is nothing significantly collectible about either the 116610 or the 114010. Take the cash, get the watch, and be happy.

Sorry, but now I’m confused! Why wouldn’t you dive with your SubC? It’s the ultimate dive tool watch, yet you feel you have a gap?

Just trying to understand

Not at all. The 5 digit models and Pelagos are both better for diving than the SubC.

I absolutely love the Pelagos...one the biggest fans on this forum.

But...I wouldn't trade a sub for it. At its price point, especially if you can find a nice ETA floating around, it wouldn't make sense. Just add a little more cash and you can have it all.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree there! And building on to your notion, a dive computer is better for diving than all of the above.

Maybe for two Pelagos. Even then I’d keep the Rolex.

Given what you have and know, I think it sounds like a good trade. Could probably buy another Tudor or Omega too.

If the Black Subc is too heavy, isn't the LVC ,also too heavy ? As a frequent diver ,invest in a dive computer . Much more accurate and functional for diving . I've never seen serious divers without one.

Too heavy in diving. I typically dive with a watch on the left wrist, dive computer in the other. Totally not needed, but just something I do.

Why not. I love the Pelagos. You like blue, black or lefty?

I'd do it for a lefty plus cash. Better depth rating, lume and power reserve, and better looking than the SubC, too, IMO.

I wouldn’t go that route !!!
Trade sub c for a sea dweller maybe or deep sea blue ?
Pelagos is cool but not that cool to trade down...
My opinion of course...

You can buy a blue Pelagos for a real diving while keeping LVc for a desk diving.

depends if you value prcticality over prestige. The Pelagos is a superb tool watch and a far more interesting, and functional, watch than a Sub. The only thing lacking is a Coronet...

It's the dive watch that Rolex would love to make, but can't, because Rolex afficioados shit the bed when the brand so much as adds a cyclops...

This for me. I have all three Pelagos versions and love it but I wouldn't trade in/flip a Sub for one. As above I'd save up and buy a Pelagos secondhand

Interesting, I own both a SubC and Pelagos, Whislt I really like the Pelagos the Sub is a Rolex and always feels good to put it back on the wrist.

Get the Pelagos, if you don't get any use out of the sub then flip it

I've very nearly bought the Pelagos several times now as it looks fantastic. However, each watch I tried on had sharp case edges and as a result felt unfinished.

Keep the Submariner and maybe get an Andersmann or Glycine (if the size is appropriate for you) specifically for diving.
