Import watch from Germany to UK

Sorry to sound stupid but I can't get my head around the import laws and it has cost me in the past importing from the States, paying VAT and Duty.
I would like to buy a watch from Germany EU. Could anyone tell me specifically what this could cost me in the above. I am confused by all the different things I read. My understanding is you don't have to pay from EU countries, well at least until after BREXIT.

Noting now, after Brexit you’ll be paying VAT.

Yes from Germany to Uk now is no VAT, just a bit of a currency hit.

VAT will still be charged at the seller's country rate won't it?
