Why do women like Men's Rolex models?

Hello everyone,

This is something I can't quite put my finger on. Why do women like men's rolex models? Why do they prefer the rolex models over an IWC Pilot's, or an Omega Seamaster or Patek Calatrava or Breguet Classique or AP Royal Oak?

I'm seeing most of the men's rolex models on women's wrists way more than I see those other brands. Actually, when it comes to those other brands, I see the women wearing the women's models, not the mens. It can't be price because IWC/Omega are priced lower than Rolex.

Actually, the only other brand I can compare to Rolex, as far as how attractive their men's models are to women, is Cartier. Cartier's men's models are also very popular with women but it's easy to see why since they're very stylish and fashionable. I would never have put them in the same category as Rolex, which I believe, makes understated working watches. Yet, they're making a big splash with women.

Does anyone have an idea why this is?

I think many women wear a man's Rolex for the same reason that they get a boob job...because they know what you like to see and they want you to look. A woman wearing your favorite DD II is practically irresistable.

On the TV Show "Lipstick Jungle" on NBC here in the US Brooke Shields sports a killer DD with white face, smooth bezel , and Oyster bracelet....she wears it a bit loose and it looks HOT on her!

I think it has to do with the fact that the standard size of most men's Rolex models is small compared to those other brands, or maybe they find them "girlie", come on DS haters, now is your time to get back at us DS owners.

Bingo. Also, the women's lineup leaves a lot to be desired.

Immaturity? Tomboys? Maybe they think they are wearing Daddie's watch? Sexual thrill? It's too bad since there are so many beautiful women's watches out there. Why do some men get highlights?

I personally think a man's Rolex looks fantastic on a woman's arm!

I don't think this is necessarily true. I mean Patek's mens models aren't as big as Rolexes. And AP's royal oak can be had for 39mm. In fact, most are in the same range as Rolex pro models 40-43mm.

How about JUST BECAUSE? Why so negative?

I'm a female and ONLY wear Rolex watches in the men's size. I wear them because I love how they look, how they're made, and the history behind them. Frankly it's just good taste, IMO.

Thanks for your reply.

In your opinion, why are Rolex men's models attractive to women? Lots of companies make quality men's sport models but again, women seem more attracted to Rolex than the other brands. What makes a sub more attractive than a seamaster, for example?

I think the stars are simply representative of the trends in the real world. I actually know of a lot of women who wear men's rolexes. Among all the models, I see them wearing mostly subs and their copies.

I can only speak for myself, but again, I think the Rolex brand has a certain allure associated with it. I'm sure there are a fair share of women out there who do choose seamasters over subs, but not me!

For whatever reason, women have a much wider range of choices when it comes to fashion and can dress in frilly things during the week and manly things on weekends or vice-versa. It's just the way of things.

The attraction of mens' watches for women I think corresponds with two factors. One is the popularity of smaller sports watches for women, which are just miniature models of men's sports watches and the general appeal of larger watches for both men and women.

To meet the need for larger watches for men, manufacturers must retool to produce those dinner-plate sized monstrosities. Women, on the other hand, are satisfied with buying men's watches.

Even though the larger watches are very popular among the young, the trend might have actually started when Boomers hit an age when smaller watches became next to impossible to see.

That's my take on it, anyway.

I'm not a fan of women wearing men's watches (or of women wearing masculine-appearing clothing), and wear a ladies' size YM. That being said, of course Rolex has more of an allure to the average person than a PP.

I do, however, like Rolex's professional series more than the DJ series. Perhaps it has to do with seeing so many copycat Seikos over the years. I never considered buying a Sub to wear (because it is a man's watch), but decided on the Yachtmaster because it is the only Rolex professional line that comes in a women's size. BTW the face of the mid-size YM looks much too big for my wrist.

The Rolex line-up for women's watches is not as diverse as the men's one! Also Rolex's best watches are the ones made for guys; i think this is why you see women wearing Submariners and GMTs!

I think that women like men's Rolexes because Rolex's product lineup for women's watches is not as diverse as men's! Also the best watches Rolex makes are the ones being made for men. This is probably why we see women wearing Submariners and GMTs.

I bought my wife a vintage 18K Omega that has a different sunburst design. I should have known better. It was rather small but she has a small wrist. She can't read the dial, its too small. I would have been better off getting her a spiffy new Explorer 2. Why? Cause if she didnt like it, I could wear it!
