The case looks original. It also appears someone tampered with the serial number though.

Agreed. The serial # engraving looks way off, doesnt look like it matches the model number style of engraving.

Here is another pic of the serial. I left the last number out for comparison...

I have seen a few "B" that look crooked but the rest of the numbers?

sometimes they look distorted like that in photos when there are ridges,how did it look in person?
other than that bad picture it looks legit.however if that serial looks that bad in person then something is very wrong.

also can you get another picture of the other side of the movement(where the rotor is covering),that is a 7750 movement and if I can see the other side it will tell me more about the quality of manufacture..

My initial observation is this chrono has had the hell beaten out of it and was probably worn at Normandy, or darn well could have been judging from the condition, but since Tudor wasn't around until 1946 I guess maybe that couldn't be possible.

It does look genuine though. Somebody might have tried to etch the numbers back on the case to make them more visible due to excessive wear. Lot better buys than that out there, unless he is asking $100. Could cost plenty to bring that old vintage piece back to life.

its easily worth a grand...you will put about 800 into it and still have a decent deal.
I have a brand new old stock bracelet for that....hmmmm.lol

Looks like a bit of a Franken watch to me with the caseback & serial number issues. It's been beaten up a bit.
Given the issues, and the potential costs to get it where I wanted it e.g. new dial, bracelet, service etc. and the risk that if Rolex says the serial number has been tampered with they will not touch it, I would personally look for a watch with less issues. It might just work out to be a whole lot easier and satisfying at the end of the day.

But you decide, good luck
